1963 Chevrolet Corvair Additional Info:

Up for auction is a 1963 Corvair Monza which has had a no expenses spared complete restoration. It is a 4-speed manual coupe and Burgundy in color, 102 or 98 motor I am not sure - motor number is T0115YN. The car has 94,621 miles on chassis and approximately 6,000 miles since the complete engine rebuild. It has lived its entire life in the East Tennessee area here around Knoxville, having spent the last 30 or so years always garaged and only driven to events or on the odd weekend.

My grandfather was a hugely involved in Knoxville’s Corvair Club, having owned and restored many of them, and rebuilt the motor of this car. Only the rods and crank were not replaced - all other wear parts were replaced with new parts (this being in the late 70’s when such parts could be obtained), pistons, cylinders, valves etc. This also included the upgraded Viton Rubber gaskets and a custom oil pan. Only 6,000 miles have been put on the rebuild motor since that time.

The rest of the car was then restored in the 1980’s. The body was stripped to bare metal and dipped in rust preventative, then repainted. The appropriate under body coatings were applied beneath and in the front trunk. The car was given all new glass, new rubber window and door seals and new carpet.

The car runs and drives as it should, shifts very smoothly and has no clutch issues. All electronics work, including the radio, tires are solid with plenty of tread. It’s a fun ride.

The cons: when brakes are applied the car pulls to the left as if it needs an adjustment in the cables. There is a crack in the gauge cluster glass and a tear in the driver’s seat. It needs a new battery. It has Pontiac hub caps on it, but a separate pair of hub caps are included – I am not sure if they are the originals or not.
