Description for Chevrolet Other 1942

Up for auction is a 1942 Chevy Business deluxe. All original 6 cylinder engine with a 3 speed manual transmission on column. This car is a true barn find and has been unmolested since 1996 it has solid body and original paint (some rust on the normal areas, see pics). All original glass windows work and also have the original hub caps. The car has not been modified in any way, but it needs complete restoration (floor panels need repairs). It does not run or drive and has been sitting for a long time. Last time on road with registration was 1996.

I am not sure if I said ORIGINAL enough times so yes " ALL ORIGINAL" These cars are very hard to find because very few were made due to the war causing a production halt in February 1942.

I encourage you to come see this car in person (no tire kickers please) is sold as is in a complete car (will not sell in parts). I have the title on hand and its ready to go to a new owner.

Complete payment must be made within 7 days of auction end and the vehicle must be picked up within 2 weeks of payment. I WILL NOT TAKE ANYTHING OTHER THAN CASH, CASH ONLY!!!! NO SCAMMERS.

History and fun facts:

The 1942ChevroletMaster DeLuxe and Special DeLuxe were introduced in September of 1941, and by then, with thousands of youngmenalready called up by themilitary, it was obvious that full U.S. participation in World War II was imminent.

In most respects the 1942 Chevrolet Master DeLuxe and Special DeLuxe models were identical to the 1941 versions. The difference was a new grille and front fenders that now extended partway across the doors.

The 1942 Chevrolet Special DeLuxe convertiblewas Chevy'ssporty leader.

Color choices clearly reflected what was on everyone's mind: Black, Volunteer Green, Ensign Blue, Torpedo Gray, and Martial Maroon

In the wake of the December 7, 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the government decreed that to conserve scarce metals, cars built after January 1, 1942, were to use no brightwork apart from chrome-plated bumpers. Grilles, belt moldings, and hubcaps were painted in contrasting colors, creating what became known as "blackout" models.

The pace of production slowed, and on February 1, 1942, by government decree, the nation's automobile assembly lines came to a halt in favor of tanks, planes, and thousands of other implements of war. Americans had no idea when they'd next see new cars roll out of Detroit.

The Special DeLuxe Sport Sedan was the best-selling four-door.
