This 1979 GMC Sierra Classic K-10 Short Wheel Base (117.5) finished in "81L" Cordova Brown Solid with "62W" Camel is a true well optioned California Survivor. This unique truck was built in Fremont California and has been raised in the mild climate of Northern California for the last 40 years. This truck is not just your everydaysquare bodyChevy, this truckwas ordered special as a pleasure truck to be enjoyed not your typical work truck ordered or as in most 1979 4WD vehicles used in an area where snow and rust are prevalent. Unlike today'sGMC's or other brands in the 1970s four wheel drive vehicle production was considerably less than 2wd trucks and where not ordered for every day people like today 4x4s. They where sold in places like in the mountains and in states where they actually needed a 4 wheel drive vehicles not in the mild Mediterranean climate of the San Francisco Bay Area.Essentially all the boxes were checked when this truck was ordered in 1979. This truck comesequippedwith all of the bestequipmentyou could order on a Short (117.5) Wheel Base1/2 ton truck n 1979; the most powerful "LS9" 350 4 barrel v8, Dana 44 and a 12 bolt rear axle with 3:73 gears, the loaded up Sierra Classic package is GMCs equivalentto ChevroletSilverado which where built on the exact same assembly line. This is the RIGHT truck and has all its original bones. This SWB Jimmy has not been swapped or replaced with cheap quality aftermarket parts made in Asia. All the body panels and trim is 100% American made in Fremont, CA in 1979.This original GMC California Survivor would be hard pressed to duplicatein this original condition. 73-87 Chevy and GMC trucks Squarebody trucks have reached a stage ofcollect abilitystatusthat has seen a rise in value as they age demanding a higher value especiallythose trucks that are well optioned and original. Cosmetically this truck is in fantastic condition with a very solid original body, panels, trim. The truck has the original #81 Cordova Brown Solid with the execption of the hood which had been respayed a few decades ago and shows signs of peeling in spots otherwise its a very original truck with no sign of any previous collison repair and maintains an original look that is unmistakingly 1979. IT is is not at all perfect or pristine as it has a few bumps and bruises hear and there but keep in mind it was built 40 years ago. There are a few dings most noticeably drivers front fender and passenger rear fender otherwise this is a very straight and solid truck. The windshield has some crackes, and the passenger window crank needes to be replaced. All the chrome bumpers, grille and trim are original and in great shape with no pitting just a few minor imperfections. The truck has been lifted with Rancho Shocks the steel wheels with hub caps, combined with brand new oversized 35x12.5x15 Falken Off road Mud terrains mounted on stock 15/8 GM steel wheels with factory GMC hub caps this truck has a a good porportioned look to it.

Mechanically this truck is in good operating condition. The motor starts up and runs great, this truck will cruises at 75 mph with no issues. The truck has the most powerful 5.7 Litre 350V8 option offered by General Motors for the 1/2 tons in 1979. The transmission is the Muncie SM465 which is a very heavy duty, 4speed-manual transmission which has a very low "Granny" first gear with a 6.55:1 ratio, second is 3:58:1, 3rd is 1.70:1 and fourth is 1.00:1 with reverse being 6:09:1. The tranmission shifts smoothly in all gears including reverse and was told the SM465 features dual provisions for power take-offs it has a 12 bolt in the rear and a DANA 44 in the front. The brakes work as they should. All the lights are functional as well .The truck was ordered with factory AC but is non/operational and does not blow cold however the fans all work.

The interior of this truck is in good condition. The original carpet has been replaced and the seating surface has been replaced with the original Camel Custom Vinal. The door panels are original that came with the truck in 1979.It does not have a radio or speakers. IT also has a sliding rear window and the optional cargo light on the back of the cab. The paint in the bed is original with a few dings and dents but quite nice for a 40 year old 4x4 truck
