1968 Chevrolet Corvette IMSA Additional Info:

Here is the iconic Car Craft "Big Banana" Corvette magazine project car. Built over a one year period, this Corvette was the Car Craft editor's vision of the ultimate GT car. Built on the chassis of an original BB 1968 Corvette convertible, the build featured some of the legendary names of the SoCal Hot Rod industry. An Art Carr transmission, B&M HoleShot shifter, Pepe's rear end, Appliance headers, Hank The Crank, Guldstrand, TRW, American Racing, Scheel Racemark, Blaupunkt, Stewart Warner, GM Race Division, Greenwood, etc are just some of the names associated with this special build. This Corvette was the star of every show and race event that it attended. It was even displayed at the Petersen Museum.
I found it a number of years ago, had it shipped back to Southern California and began a sympathetic restoration. The goal was to use as much of the original build as possible. The Corvette was resprayed in a brilliant yellow, based on the original paint code. The body and IMSA flairs were in very good condition and required only a strip of the badly checked original paint. The seats, door panels, dash, etc were simply cleaned and reused.
The fuel lines were replaced, the carb rebuilt and the plugs and wires changed. New brake lines, Calipers and master cylinder were also fitted. An entire new dual exhaust system was fabricated and installed as well.New tires were mounted on the original American Racing Vector wheels.
The headlights and wipers work as they should as do all of the gauges. Some of the extras are unknown as to functionality. The original radar detector, CB radio power up, not sure if they work. Currently the tach is non functional-only due to the new HEI distributor. I have an original tach drive distributor that will be included. The original graphics were painted on. After the new paint, I decided to recreate them in vinyl in the event that the next owner did not want the graphics. They are mostly true to the original design-just a couple of the stripes were left off-I will include extra vinyl if the buyer would like to complete the original look. All of the fluids were changed and a new distributor installed. The Big Banana is equipped with power windows and they work fine. The Corvette starts easily and goes down the road well. This car creates massive interest wherever it goes-be prepared for thumbs up, cell phone pics out of windows and requests for "selfies" anytime you stop.Obviously, this is the only Car Craft Corvette in existence-it even has the original brass build plaque under the hood. Included are all of the Car Craft magazines detailing the build as well as a few other magazines the Banana was featured in.
Don't miss this chance to own an extremely unique custom Corvette with great history and multiple covers.

To answer a few questions-yes, it has a clear California title in my name. There is a soft top. The frame is in excellent shap, top is usable with minor wear and some hazing on plastic window. No visible rust on the car.Thanks.
