1968 Chevrolet Impala Additional Info:

Hello, I'm selling my 1968 Chevy Impala 4 Door Hardtop. NO RESERVE. I bought this in the late 70's-early 80's and it did have a Florida registration. It was repainted the original white before I acquired it, it does not have any indication of being in any accidents or of having any body work done on the car. I was told the original paint was faded. You can see from the photos that this is a VERY solid car, it does have 4 spots where rust is just beginning to show. The rocker panels, floors, trunk, etc. are all solid original metal. The chrome and stainless is in fantastic shape. It has just over 106,000 miles on herI love this car and always wanted to get this car back on the road but now I'm downsizing and planning on moving and just won't have the room for it any longer. I have stored this car in my basement the last 20 years, it's been in a climate controlled environment there. Better someone who has the time and space to enjoy her.I last drove this car in 1997, the tires & wheels are newer and have almost no miles on them, it also comes with the original 4 rims ( and tires that are not legal, I used them when putting it in storage for the winters ), original hubcaps, the spare, and wheel lug locks. The engine uses a small amount of oil, some leaking, some from wear. If it is driven easily the oil lasts longer. The powerglide transmission is in perfect condition. The interior could use some TLC, I have a seat cover that hides the rips in the front seat, ( the seat frames & springs are fine ) the headliner has a seam undone, I've held it up with some twist ties. The rear shelf is covered with carpet, the seat belts need a cleaning. The plastic seat belt housings are breaking down. The A/C worked well in '97, but I haven't tried it since getting her moving again. It has 4 working T-3 headlights, and I believe this is the only model that has marker lights on the outer sides of the headlights. most 68's have blanks there, these look really good at night. There is one taillight that is missing the chrome ring, I have an aftermarket lens that comes with the car.I do remember back when I had it on the road, that if I left it outside and it rained, I would get a small amount of water in the trunk, although It didn't happen when I recently washed it. I suspect it has a small leak around the rear window. This car is 50 years old and some of the weather stripping should eventually be replaced. I'm sure almost any parts for this 68 are still available, either from your local auto parts store or one of the vintage auto parts companies.I drained the old gas and put a few gallons of non-ethanol 97 in the tank. I did do the wheel cylinders, put a new pressure hose on the power steering ( a few years ago ), new spark plugs, and a new brake hose. I would strongly suggest that you have the fluids changed, like the brake fluid, transmission, engine oil, differential gear oil, and have the suspension greased. This is a great car that could be driven with a small amount of service, it could be slowly restored while you enjoy driving it. It really does look beautiful! And you can tell by the photos that this car is well worth putting some time and effort into it. You are starting out with a very solid car. This car is also for sale locally so It is possible the auction could end early if I get an offer I'm comfortable with. I welcome anyone to come and inspect this car in person. The winning bidder must make a $500.00 deposit within 24 hours and full payment before picking up the car, that should be within 10 days but I can be flexible if more time is needed. If you are looking for a nice vintage car to cruise around in, put some time and effort into restoring, this would be a nice car that. For being 50 years old, it's in great shape and worth the effort. Before I acquired my 68, I looked at maybe a dozen cars near this year and all looked nice, but this was the only one that was really solid, the floors, the fenders, the rocker panels, and they still are.Buyer is responsible for picking up or having this car shipped. If you have any questions, please ask, thanks for looking. NOTE: The vintage license plates are not included with the car.
