Description

It presents in incredible, original condition throughout, and is a recent recipient of an AACA Historic Preservation (HPOF) award. The bodywork is very straight with good panel fit, and the paint is very good and well-preserved all around. There was some paintwork on the front fenders and hood, and while the color match is very slightly off, it maintains the character and charm of a preservation-class car.

For the 1957 model year, Chevrolet continued to evolve its revolutionary design theme that had transformed GM styling starting in 1955. The '55 models were the first cars from Chevrolet to feature fenders that blended smoothly in with the body sides, earning them the nickname "shoebox”. 1957 models were tweaked with new front and rear sheet metal that included a die-cast egg-crate grille, pronounced eyebrows over the headlamps, and those distinct fins with contrasting inserts on Bel Air models. Thanks to that handsome styling, along with an endless list of performance and luxury options earned the '57 Bel Air was often considered a "baby Cadillac”. Even though Chevy was ultimately outsold by Ford, the unmistakable and flamboyant 1957 Chevrolet has gone on to become a true American icon.
RB Collection is very pleased to offer this amazing, unrestored 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-door sedan. It is a truly beautiful example of this symbol of 1950s Americana. This car was sold new via Curry Chevrolet of Buckhannon, West Virginia and finished in Harbor Blue Poly (code 796) over a Blue and Black interior (code 665). It wouldn't be a proper 1950s American classic without lots of chrome, and this Chevy delivers with excellent quality plating and stainless trim, all in very original condition. Rolling stock consists of steel wheels with chrome "spinner" hubcaps and period correct wide whitewall bias ply tires for the ideal stance and handling.
Inside, amazing original upholstery is in fine condition both front and rear. A small blemish is found on the seat that does little to detract from the otherwise fine presentation. The headliner, carpets and gauges all appear to be original and unrestored. Original options include a pushbutton radio, heater, cigarette lighter and electric clock and the electrical functions work as they should.
The drivetrain consists of the factory-equipped 265 cubic inch smallblock V8 which is mated to a 3-speed transmission. Engine presentation is excellent and consistent with an exceptional unrestored car such as this. Likewise, the undercarriage is excellent with no evidence of restoration or repair work. From behind the wheel, this Bel Air is a delight. It feels tight and solid on the road in a way that only the best un-restored cars can feel, with a strong engine and excellent chassis.
The 1957 Chevrolet is an American cultural icon, and they remain hugely popular and instantly recognizable even more than six decades since they first debuted. Countless examples have been heavily modified, while others have been over-restored to standards far better than they ever were when new. It is therefore extremely rare to find a well-optioned, genuine Bel Air that has been so carefully and lovingly preserved and we are delighted to offer it for sale. Please contact Alex Ruozzi at RB Collection for more information on this wonderful, iconic 1957 Chevrolet.
