1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible Paint / Body: The paint color on this vehicle is called "Canyon Coral". This color screams the 50's and looks great on this Bel Air. The factory '57 paint code is "801". The vehicle received a professional "Body-Off" restoration about twenty-five plus years ago. This high end paint job is holding up very well. It still looks great with no orange peel, checking, or fading. During the frame-off restoration, the body was properly stripped, primed, block sanded, and prepared for painting. The vehicle was originally built at the Los Angeles, California assembly plant so we assume the vehicle started its life out west somewhere keeping it solid and rust free. If any body panels needed repair, they were done correctly with metal. Looking down the sides, the vehicle is very straight and true. The body panel alignment and gaps are great. The car is fitted with a "Continetal Kit" for the spare tire. It looks great on this car. It also has an original Chevrolet accessory "Spot light" installed on the driver's side. Finishing off the look of the car is a set of rear "Fender Skirts". These steel skirts are painted to match the car and come with the correct rubber seals and stainless stone guard trim. The weather stripping around the doors and trunk are in great condition.
Convertible Top: The white convertible top is in excellent shape. There are no holes, rips or marks. The clear plastic rear window is in great shape also. It is not yellowing, fogging or scratched. The power top motor is working like it should with no leaks. The white convertible boot that snaps into place is in great condition without any rips, marks or other problems.
Chrome / Trim: All of the exterior and interior chrome pieces are in excellent condition. Most have been either replaced or re-chromed. The bumpers were rechromed and are straight and true with a deep show shine. The front and rear bumper have the chrome bumper guards installed. The bumpers are aligned and fitted to the body very nicely without any uneven gaps. Being that the vehicle was built at the Los Angeles, CA assembly plant, it has the correct 1 piece "California" front bumper. The black rubber bullets on the front bumper are in great condition. The dual outside mirrors, door handles, taillights and headlight bezels all look great with no pitting or dulling. The car has a lot of GM accessory installed. Stainless steel nail guard on the door handles, driver's side spot light/mirror, continental kit and dual rear mounted antennas. The stainless steel trim has been straightened and buffed. The aluminum side Bel Air inserts panels looks great with no scratches or dings. The golden Bel Air grille is in near perfect condition. All of the correct emblems are in great condition with no signs of wear. The original "T3" headlights are installed making sure everything is correct right down to the smallest detail.
Interior: The interior is in excellent shape. It has the correct "677" coded Ivory vinyl w/Silver pattern vinyl. During the restoration, everything was replaced or gone over and reconditioned. New carpeting, seats, and door panels. The factory instrument cluster looks great. All of the interior trim pieces are also very nice. The chrome knobs, door handles and dash parts do not show any pitting or problems. The factory steering wheel is in great shape. The chrome center piece and horn ring are very nice. The electric wipers, lights, gauges, horns, speedometer, odometer, along with after market AM/FM/Tape radio. The original clock currently does not work. It has a Chevrolet accessory tissue dispenser mounted under the dash along with a Guide traffic light viewer on the dash.
Engine Compartment: The engine compartment is finished and detailed to a very original and stock looking appearance. This 283 CID V8 power plant was rebuilt and has the "Power Pack" option. (Four barrel carburetor and a dual exhaust system.) It starts, runs and sounds great. Absolutely zero problems. Starts cold, and runs smoothly with no smoke, or ticking sounds. Bolted to this power plant is a rebuilt two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. It is also working great. It shifts out nice and smooth with no known problems or noises. There are no leaks with the engine and transmission. The stock radiator has been cleaned and restored and is keeping the car running cool during the summer months. All of the hoses were replaced and they have the correct style clamps installed. The stock Delco generator is keeping the original style battery charged. The vehicle also has power steering which is also working great.
Trunk Compartment: The trunk compartment still looks all stock. It is highly detailed and spotless. It has the correct black rubber mat along with the jacking, jacking tools, and jacking instructions label which is in the correct place. There is a nice Firestone 7.50 x 14 wide white wall tire for a spare that matches the other four tires. The trunk floor under the mat looks great along with the spare tire well.
Glass: All of the glass pieces are in excellent condition. They all look very nice, even the windshield looks great with no stone chips or wiper marks. There are no chips, cracks, or scratches on the side glass pieces. All of the side windows roll up and down without any problems along with the two vent windows. The stainless steel trim around the windows are all in great condition.
Wheels and Tires: All five(5) B.F.Goodrich Silvertown size 7.50-14 tires have the correct size wide white wall. They are in great shape and still look good. The white walls could use a quick cleaning. These tires are mounted on the stock Chevrolet rims that are painted the correct "Canyon Coral" color. These are the correct full size Bel Air hub caps with original chrome spinners. The black detail area in the hub caps look good. The chrome spinners do not show any signs of pitting and the red center emblems are not faded.
Undercarriage: Remember, this was once a body off restoration. Its been driven and enjoyed since then. The underside of the car is still very clean. When the body was removed from the chassis, the frame was cleaned, sandblasted and then painted. The under body area is finished with the correct "Red Oxide" primer. It looks good with no under coating hiding rusted or weak areas. The frame and other components were all painted with the correct semi-gloss black chassis paint. All the other components also have the correct factory finishes. The car received new brake and fuel lines along with a dual exhaust system. The fuel tank still looks new The suspension was rebuilt with new rubber components and items. New springs and shocks.
Nine times out of ten, people selling a car would not talk about or take any photos of the underside. The undercarriage tells you a lot about the car, that is why there are a few pictures of the bottom.

This '57 Chevy is better then most of them you will see. It's not your average "driver" quality car.
We would say this convertible is better then most cars you would see at your local car show and/or Cruise Ins.
It is the best of both worlds. A vehicle with a high end restoration that can be driven and enjoyed.
(Car shows on Saturdays, and going with the family for ice cream on Sundays.)
