1987 Chevrolet Astro Additional Info:

Very cool Hot Rod van. This is a 1st generation Astro with the original 4.3 6 cylinder, automatic trans drivetrain. Hot Rod black paint with some very well done graphics on it. It's a driver the way it is, but take it to the next level and make it your own. As it sits, it's 'Ol School Cool'. Buy it and drive it home from metro Atlanta. It starts up easy every time.
New items done in the past year are-- New professionally installed Door Poppers, Exhaust Y-pipe, Front Tires, Front Calipers & brakes, Pulley Tensioner, Serpentine Belt, Basic Stereo Head Unit.
BODY- Solid and straight, no waves in the panels. Paint is about 6 years old but still shows very well. Graphics are very well done, the red flames nice tight vinyl with no lifting anywhere. All the rest is hand done pinstriping. The Road Devil on the back is vinyl graphics.Bumpers have been tucked up to the body. Has power moonroof that won't open but DOES NOT LEAK. Has rear air shocks. All lights factory lights work (not fog lights), wipers and horn work. All doors shut tight, don't sag. Old school Cragars in pretty nice condition.
INTERIOR- Still pretty nice. All done in same gray tweed. Has 4 bucket seats. Side panels, seats, dash, ceiling all done in the tweed. The headliner has a hole in fabric where there used to be a ceiling video player. I got it with a mirror on the ceiling. Nice black shag carpet on floor. Overall pretty good. Gauges all work but the speedo gets wonky at about 60 mph. Has seat belts. Basic stereo with speakers in the dash and in the rear door panels. A/C does not work but is intact, could not take that much to fix it.
DRIVETRAIN- Stock 4.3 6 cyl, auto trans. Runs, shifts and drives fine. We took it on a 500 plus road trip and averaged over 24 mpg. It gets driven around our small town occasionally. Does not leak. Had new tensioner pulley and belt not long ago. Cruise control does not work.
I think this van is dying for a V8 conversion with some side pipes!! Astro Vans are supposed to be one of the absolute easiest V8 conversions there is, just 2 or 3 bolts.
The short cargo 1st generation vans are now hard to find. Title in my name and clear.
