1963 Chevrolet Corvair Spyder Convertible Additional Info:

For sale is a 1963 Fitch Sprint Corvair Spyder Convertible. It has a 150 horsepower turbo engine with a Ray Sedman modified 45 DCOE Weber carb which provides both primary and secondary throttles. The actual horsepower is more than the 150 rating, but has not been dynoed. There is a large fan powered oil cooler under the left rear fender. There's also a SafeGuard spark control computer and an Innovate Motorsports LC-2 air/fuel flow computer under the rear seat. The gauges for these are mounted on the dash ashtray for easy, no mar removal. There are also the following Westach gauges mounted under the radio: oil temp., oil pressure, cyl. head temp., voltmeter. The radio is a Restosound "classic look" fully digital unit with a separate amp and high end Focal speakers. The engine, transmission and differential were fully rebuilt when the car was restored approximately 4700 miles ago. It was a full nut and bolt restoration with Mercedes "Jet Black" paint, all new red interior, new white top, new suspension parts, new Clark wire wheels, and Maxxis tires. The Fitch suspension componants were re-furbished. There is a fully removeable Autopower, SCCA roll bar installed. It has been modified with forward (along the seats, next to the door) removeable cage bars, the addition of head rests, and mounts for 3 point shoulder belts. The cage bars stiffen the convertible chassis. The roll bar assembly bolts to heavy duty plates welded to the unibody structure. Very strong. The pictures show the roll bar assembly removed. I re-installed it to attend the 2017 Monterey Car Week events. Besides being a multiple major award winning restoration, what makes this car special is that it is one of 3 Turbo cars that John Fiitch built in 1963. And the only convertible. His modifications include: Koni shocks, shorter springs revised suspension geometry, quick ratio steering arms, a camber compensator, a steering stabilizer, Lucas "Flamethrower" driving light, passenger grab bar, and Fitch Sprint badges. This a truely spectacular one of a kind car! It has won 1st place for "Restored Convertibles" at the 2016 Sacramento Autorama, "Best Classic" at the 2017 Pacific Grove Concourse and Rally during the Monterey Car Week, "Best of Show" at the 2016 Corvair Spring Fling in Sutter Creek Ca, and many other trophys. You will not be dissapointed by this spectacular car.
