1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Additional Info:

FOR SALE IS THIS BEATIFULLY CUSTOMIZED 1971 MONTE CARLO THAT WENT THROUGH A FULL FRAME OFF CUSTOMIZATION DOWN TO THE NUTS AND BOLTS. NOTHING WAS LEFT UNTOUCHED. EVERY PART OF THE CAR WAS THOROUGHLY CLEANED OR REPLACED. CAR RUNS AND DRIVES BETTER THAN NEW. THIS CAR WAS ORIGINALLY FROM GEORGIA UNTIL 1999. IT WAS DRIVEN FROM GEORGIA TO OHIO THEN THE PREVIOUS OWNER TOOK IT APART TO HAVE IT PAINTED BUT NEVER PUT IT BACK TOGETHER. THE ORIGINAL EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR COLOR WAS GREEN.IT SAT IN A GARAGE FROM 2000 UNTIL 2015 WHEN I PURCHASED IT AND RESTORED IT. ALL THE METAL IS ORIGINAL. THE FLOORS WERE ALL ORIGINAL WITH NO ROT. I HAVE OVER 300 PICTURES OF THIS CAR FROM THE DAY I PURCHASED IT TO THE DAY I FINISHED IT THAT WILL COME WITH THE CAR ON A ZIP DRIVE FOR THE NEW OWNER TO KNOW WHAT WAS ALL DONE TO THE CAR.I HAVE SOME OLD DOCUMENTS THAT WERE IN THE GLOVE BOX DATING BACK FROM 1980 UNTIL 1999 WHEN THE CAR WAS PURCHASED AND BROUGHT TO OHIO. I BELIEVE I AM THE 4TH OWNER OF THIS CAR. IT HAS 93,000 ORIGINAL MILES ON IT. I HAVE THE RECEIPTS FOR EVERY PART ON THE CAR FROM START TO FINISH.
BODY:
THE BODY IS ALL ORIGINAL FACTORY SHEET METAL INCLUDING THE BUMPERS. THERE WAS NO PATCH WORK DONE TO THE FLOORS. THE ONLY PATCH WORK DONE TO THE QUARTERS IS WHERE I REMOVED THE MARKER LIGHTS AND WELDED IN PANELS TO COVER THE ORIGINAL OPENINGS FOR THE LIGHTS. THE CAR WAS AN ORIGINAL VINYL TOP CAR SO ALL OF THE NIPPLES FOR THE TRIM CLIPSWERE CUT OFF AND SMOOTHED OUT WITH GLAZE. THE REAR WINDOW AREA IS NOT ROTTED OUT AND DOES NOT LEAK. THE DOORS ARE ALL ORIGINAL. THE ONLY METAL WORK ON THEM IS WHERE I WELDED UP THE HOLES FROM THE ORIGINAL TRIM AND CUT OUT THE SECTION TO INSTALL THE DOOR HANDLES. THE ROCKER PANELS ARE ALL ORIGINAL AND WERE ONLY SMOOTHED WITH GLAZE AFTER I CUT OFF THE NIPPLES FOR THE CLIPS THAT HELD ON THE TRIM. THE FRONT FENDERS HAD A LITTLE RUST ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT BEHIND THE WHEELS SO I CUT OUT THE RUST AND WELDED IN NEW METAL. THE MARKER LIGHTS WERE ALSO REMOVED AND NEW METAL WAS WELDED IN TO COVER THE ORIGINAL OPENINGS FOR THE MARKER LIGHTS. THE HOOD IS THE ORIGINAL HOOD. THE CHROME EMBLEM ON THE FRONT WAS REMOVED AND THE HOLES WERE WELDED IN AND SMOOTHED. THE TRUNK LID IS ORIGINAL. THE EMBLEM THAT WAS AROUND THE TRUNK LOCK WAS REMOVED AND THE HOLES WERE WELDED IN. THE BUMPERS ARE ALL ORIGINAL. THE BOLTS WERE WELDED IN FROM THE INSIDE AND THE ROUNDED PART THAT IS SEEN ON THE OUTSIDE WAS CUT OFF AND SMOOTHED. THE REAR BUMPER WAS A LITTLE BENT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BUT WAS HEATED UP AND BENT BACK INTO SHAPE AND WELDED WERE IT WAS CRACKED. THE ONLY AFTER MARKET PANELS ON THE CAR IS THE FRONT INNER FENDER WELLS. THEY ARE STEEL REPLACEMENTS FROM ORIGINAL PARTS GROUP (OPG). THE PLASTIC ORIGINAL ONES WERE CRACKED UP TOO MUCH TO REUSE. THE DRIP EDGE ON THE ROOF WAS REMOVED AND WELDED UP. THE COMPLETE EDGE IS ALL METAL. NOT JUST A BUNCH OF FILLER. IT WAS SMOOTHED OUT WITH FILLERS ON THE TOP WHERE IT WAS WELDED BUT THE EDGE IS METAL. THE RADIATOR SUPPORT HAD A LITTLE RUST SPOT UNDER THE BATTERY TRAY THAT WAS PATCHED WITH NEW METAL WELDED IN.
FRAME:
THE FRAME IS 100% STRAIGHT. IT DID NOT NEED REPAIRED IN ANY WAY. IT WAS MEASURED ON A FRAME MACHINE AND IS WITHIN FACTORY SPECS ON ALL DIMENSIONS. THE FRAME WAS WIRE WHEELED DOWN TO BARE METAL THEN PRIMERED AND PAINTED WITH SEMI GLOSS CHASSIS BLACK PAINT.
PAINT:
THE PAINT IS BASE COAT/ CLEAR COAT. IT IS TWO TONED MONTE CARLO BLACK ON THE TOP AND METALLIC GRAY ON THE BOTTOM. THE TWO TONE IS SEPARATED BY A RED PIN STRIPE THAT IS 3M ADHESIVE PIN STRIPING. THE PIN STRIPE IS NOT CLEAR COATED OVER. THE DOOR JAMS ARE BLACK. THEBACK SIDEOF THE FRONT FENDERS IS PAINTED WITH DUPLICOLOR BEDLINER SPRAY FOR RUST PROTECTION/PREVENTION. THE WHOLE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR, INCLUDING THE FIREWALL AND WHOLE COWL, AREA WAS WIRE WHEELD TO BARE METAL THEN SPRAYED WITH BEDLINER SPRAY FOR DURABILITY AND RUST PREVENTION. THE WHOLE INSIDE OF THE CABIN WAS ALSO WIRE WHEELED TO BARE METAL AND SPRAYED WITH BED LINER SPRAY ALSO. THE BUMPERS WERE SPRAYED WITH PRIMER AND THEN PAINTED BASE COAT/ CLEAR COAT BLACK. THE INSIDE OF THE TRUNK WAS ALSO WIRE WHEELED TO BARE METAL AND SPRAYED WITH DUPLICOLOR BEDLINER SPRAY. THE GRILLE WAS SANDBLASTED THEN PAINTED BASE COAT/ CLEAR COAT BLACK. THE INNER FENDER WELLS WERE PAINTED GRAY TO MATCH THE SIDES OF THE BODY.
SUSPENSION & BRAKES:
FRONT SUSPENSION IS SUMMIT BRAND TUBULAR A-ARMS WITH BMR 1 INCH DROP SPRINGS. HAS NEW D52 CALIPERS AND FLEX HOSES WITH DRILLED AND SLOTTED ROTORS. THE FRONT BRAKES ARE STOCK 11 INCH ROTORS. THE SPINDLES AND WHEEL BEARINGS ARE NEW. ALL STEERING COMPONENTS ARE NEW MOOG BRAND INCLUDING THE CENTER LINK, INNER TIE RODS, OUTER TIE RODS, TIE ROD ADJUSTERS AND IDLER ARM. THE FRONT SHOCKS ARE GAS CHARGED MONROES. THE FRONT SWAY BAR AND BUSHINGS ARE NEW. THE FRONT SWAY BAR IS THE STOCK 7/8 INCH THICK. THE SWAY BAR LINK BUSHINGS ARE POLYURETHANE.
THE REAR SUSPENSION IS ALL NEW. HAS POLYURETHANE BUSHINGS IN THE REAR END. THE REAR CONTROL ARMS ARE UMI PERFORMANCE TUBULAR DESIGN WITH A 1 INCH REAR SWAY BAR. THE SHOCKS ARE BELLTECH GAS CHARGED 2 INCH LOWERED SHOCKS. THE SPRINGS ARE BMR 2 INCH LOWERING SPRINGS. THE REAR BRAKES ARE GM STYLE DISC BRAKES USING THE METRIC D154 CALIPERS. THE ROTORS ARE 11 INCH DRILLED AND SLOTTED ROTORS.
DRIVETRAIN:
THE ENGINE IS A EARLY 70s 400 CUBIC INCH SMALL BLOCK CHEVY. IT IS A MILDLY BUILT ENGINE. I DID NOT REBUILD THE ENGINE. IT WAS REMOVED FROM ANOTHER CAR THAT WAS GETTING AN LS SWAP AT MY SHOP. THE CAR IT WAS REMOVED FROM WAS DYNO TESTED FOR HORSEPOWER BEFORE IT WAS REMOVED AND IT MADE 270HP AT THE WHEELS BEFORE IT WAS REMOVED. I DO HAVE THE DYNO SHEET FOR PROOF. IT HAS A SUMMIT BRAND 670 4 BARRELCARBURETOR ON IT. HAS AN ALUMINUM INTAKE. HAS AN HEI DISTRIBUTOR WITH TAYLOR WIRES. ALL PULLEYS ARE ALUMINUM. HAS CERAMIC COATED LONG TUBE HEADERS. NEW ALTERNATOR AND A NEW POWER STEERING PUMP. HAS NEW OIL PAN, NEW TIMING CHAIN COVER, NEW VALVE COVERS AND ALL NEW GASKETS. NO LEAKS. NEW FLEXPLATEAND NEW STARTER. USES A STOCK MECHANICAL FUEL PUMP AND HAS A NEW FUEL SENDER IN THE GAS TANK. THE A/CPUMP ISTHE ORIGINAL PUMP. THE A/C WAS CONVERTED TO R134A AND WORKS PERFECT AND GETS NICE AND COLD.
TRANSMISSION IS THE ORIGINAL TH350 THAT WAS IN THE CAR. IT WAS OPENED UP AND INSPECTED FOR DAMAGED THEN REASSEMBLED. IT HAS A STOCK STALL SPEED TORQUE CONVERTER. IT IS ALL STOCK. NO SHIFT KIT OR MODS. IT SHIFTS PERFECT AND DOES NOT SLIP. HAS NEW GASKETS, SEALS, FILTER AND A NEW SPEEDOMETER DRIVE IN IT. THE OLD DRIVE LEAKED. DRIVE SHAFT WAS REBALANCED AFTER NEW U-JOINTS WERE INSTALLED THEN IT WAS PAINTED CHASSIS BLACK.
THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL IS THE ORIGINAL 12 BOLT NON-POSI REAR. IT HAS A 2.73 GEAR IN IT. THE COVER AND AXLESWERE REMOVED FOR INSPECTION. ALL SEALS AND FLUID WERE REPLACED. NO LEAKS. IT WAS ALSO WIRE WHEELED TO BARE METAL AND PAINTED CHASSIS BLACK.
THE EXHAUST IS AN OFF THE SHELF DUAL EXHAUST FROM SUMMIT RACING. THE TAIL PIPES ARE NOT ON IN THE PICTURES BUT WILL BE INSTALLED BEFORE THE AUCTION ENDS. IT IS A 2 1/4 INCH DUAL EXHAUST WITH TURBO MUFFLERS THAT EXITS UNDER THE BUMPER. HAS A NICE RUMBLE TO IT BUT IS NOT LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS. PERFECT FOR A DAILY DRIVER.
THE MASTER CYLINDER IS NEW. IT HAS A 1.25 INCH PISTON FOR 4 WHEEL DISC BRAKES. THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER IS NEW ALSO.
INTERIOR:
THE ORIGINAL INTERIOR WAS GREEN WITH A BENCH SEAT. THE DASH WAS REMOVED AND COMPLETELY DISASSEMBLEDANDCLEANED THEN PAINTED BLACKWITH SPECIAL INTERIOR PAINT. THE ORIGINAL GAUGES WERE CLEANED AND NEW BULBS INSTALLED. ALL THE GAUGES WORK PERFECT EXCEPT THE CLOCK. THE FRONT SEATS ARE FROM A 2010 CHEVY COBALT SS AND ARE MANUAL LEATHER SEATS. THE DRIVER SIDE BOTTOM SEAT COVER WAS REPLACED WITH A FACTORY GM COVER. THE REAR SEAT IS THE ORIGINAL SEAT THAT WAS RECOVERED TO MATCH THE FRONT SEATS. THE HEADLINER AND SUN VISORS ARE NEW ALSO. ALL OF THE WIND LACES AND KICK PANELS WERE ALL PAINTED BLACK FROM THE ORIGINAL GREEN. THE FRONT DOOR PANELS ALONG WITH THE REAR INTERIOR PANELS WERE ALL CUSTOM MADE BY ME AND RECOVERED WITH BLACK VINYL WITH PADDING BEHINDTHE VINYL.THE DOOR HANDLES AND ARM REST BASES AND PADSARE ALL NEW AFTER MARKET ONES FROM OPG. THE REAR ARM REST ARE THE ORIGINAL STEEL ONES THAT ARE COVERED IN VINYL. THE STEERING COLUMN IS THE ORIGINAL NON-TILT. IT WAS REBUILT COMPLETELY WITH NEW TURN SIGNAL CAM AND NEW IGNITION. IT WAS REPAINTED SEMI GLOSS BLACK WHILE IT WAS APRT. THE CARPET IS A NEW ONE FROM TRIM PARTS. THE HEAT AND A/C CONTROLS ALL WORK PERFECT. EVEN THE VACUUM BLEND DOORS ALL WORK. ALL FAN SPEEDS WORK. HAS A NEW DOME LIGHT. THE FACTORY RADIO IS IN THERE BUT DOES NOT WORK. THERE IS NO SPEAKERS IN THE CAR. THE OLD ONES WERE ALL DRY ROTTED. ALL NEW INTERIOR SCREWS ARE STAINLESS STEEL. THE ASH TRAYS WERE SANDBLASTED. EVEN THE "PARK RNDL1L2" INDICATOR IS CONNECTED AND WORKS. REARVIEW MIRROR IS THE ORIGINAL AND IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE AND NOT ALL FOGGY OR HAZED UP.
ALL OF THE WEATHERSTRIP SEALS WERE REPLACED. ALL NEW INNER AND OUTER WINDOW FELTS, WINDOW SEALS, QUARTER WINDOW VERTICAL SEALS, DOOR SEALS, TRUNK SEALS AND HOOD TO COWL SEAL. EVEN ALL OF THE SEALS FOR THE TAILLIGHTS AND TURN SIGNAL LENSES AND BACK UP LIGHT LENSES. THE COMPLETE SEAL KIT WAS OVER $400 FROM SOFFSEAL.
WINDOWS:
THE FRONT WINDSHIELD IS NEW AND WAS FLUSH MOUNTED WITH A RUBBER TRIM. THE ORIGINAL CHROME WINDOW TRIM WAS DELETED. THE REAR WINDOW IS NEW AND IS FLUSH MOUNTED AND USED A RUBBER TRIM. THE CHROME TRIM WAS ALSO REMOVED. THE SIDE GLASS IN BOTH DOORS AND THE QUARTER WINDOWS ARE THE ORIGINALS. THEY DO HAVE SOME SCRATCHES AND ARE NOT PERFECT.
WHEELS AND TIRES:
WHEELS ARE MADE BY RIDLER AND ARE THEIR 645 SERIES. FRONT WHEELS ARE 18X8 AND USE A 225-45-18 TIRE. THE REARS ARE 20X10 AND USE A 275-40-20 TIRE. THE REAR TIRES ARE MADE BY NEXEN AND THE FRONT TIRES ARE MADE BY KENDA. I COULD NOT FIND A MATCHING SET IN THE FRONT SIZE TO MATCH THE REAR TIRES I ALREADY HAD. SO I WENT WITH A TREAD PATTERN THAT WAS CLOSE TO THE NEXEN STYLE THAT I HAD. THEY ARE DIRECTIONAL TIRES. THE FRONT TIRES ARE NEW AND THE REAR TIRES HAVE ABOUT 1000 MILES ON THEM. I HAD THE REAR TIRES ON MY CHEVELLE FOR A LITTLE WHILE LAST SUMMER AND CHANGED THEM.
MISC:
HEADLIGHTS ARE H4 CONVERSIONS. ALL LIGHTS WORK AND HAVE NEW BULBS. THE MIRRORS ARE FROM A 2015 CAMARO. THE DOOR WAS NOT MODIFIED TO USE THE MIRRORS. THE MIRRORS WERE MODIFIED. THEY WERE ORIGINALLY POWER MIRRORS BUT I DID NOT HOOK THE POWER UP TO THEM. THE CAR ORIGINALLY DID NOT HAVE POWER MIRRORS OR ANY POWER OPTIONS. THE CAR DOES NOT HAVE ANY SEAT BELTS. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL SEAT BELTS THAT YOU CAN HAVE IF YOU WANT THEM. THEY ARE GREEN AND NOT THAT GOOD OF SHAPE.
THIS IS A PERFECT DAILY DRIVER THAT YOU CAN TAKE ANYWHERE. THE HEAT BLOWS HOT AND THE A/C BLOWS ICE COLD. GETS DECENT GAS MILEAGE AND CRUISES DOWN THE FREEWAY WITHOUT THE RPMs SCREAMING, ALL WHILE BEING SHOW READY. THE BRAKES STOP BETTER THAN MOST NEW CARS. EVEN ON THE EXPRESSWAY THERE IS NO WIND NOISE LIKE ALL OLD CARS HAVE FROM THE WINDOW SEALS LEAKING ECT. IT IS NICE AND QUIET WITH THE WINDOWS UP.
