Up for auction is a 1966 El Camino Custom. This El Camino is the SS/Malibu version of the 66 Chevelle but were never badged as such in 1966. This rare optioned car wasfactoryequipped with a 360 hp 396, 2 speedpowerglide, 12 boltrear with posi trac and air conditioning. The original 360 hp 396 was replaced at some point in its life with a 1971 chevelle 300 hp 402 which is mildly built. Thepower glide was alsoreplaced with a muncie 4 speed. The engine block and front pad stamping are as follows;402-cast #3961402 300HP,date code T01040CLB (LS3),partial VIN 11S122977 (S=st. louis)Towanda plant jan 4th 1971 (chevelle). The muncie 4 speed numbers are as follows;3885010 (1965-66),serial P0929 Aug 29(indicates 65-66 since day/mos only stamped onthisyears).Everything on this car works as it should. There is zero rot. There are a few places, as depicted in the photos, where the paint has flaked or bare metal has bleed some surface rust on the tailgate. Tires and wheels are brand new. Wheels are 15" wheel vintique rallye's. The front brakes have been converted to disc with a CPP kit. The interior has been refurbished with new carpet, dash pad, headliner, and bucket seats. The seat backs have holes cut in them for speakers which have been removed. The A/C brackets are not with the car nor is the compressor. Everything else is still with the car. This beauty is a great driver and gets attention as its always the only one at the show.
