1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Convertible Additional Info:

1968 Chevelle Super Sport 396 Convertible
This is a true SS 396 Convertible identified by its VIN number. There were only 2,200 Models made that year, so its quite rare. In 1968 this was the last year that someone could reliably confirm via the VIN that the car was a real SS and a real Convertible. After 1969, buyers could only rely on the Build Sheet which can be easily counterfeited, thus the reason we have lots of fake SS cars in 1969 and later.
Features Include;
Complete Frame off Restoration (Nuts and Bolts) 2500 Miles ago. The big block engine has a few modifications to make more horsepower; we estimate that the engine puts out about 425 H/P. The engine has Power Pro Forged Pistons, Eagle Connecting Rods, Forged Crankshaft, Lunati Voodoo Street Performance Camshaft, Roller Rockers, Edlebrock Aluminum Intake, Holley Dual Pump 4 Barrel Carburator, Hooker Stainless Headers 2 inch Dual Exhaust going into a Custom 3 inch exhaust system with B-Band at the Collectors for easy Disassembly. We installed and All Aluminum High Output Radiator to handle the engine cooling.
Transmission is High Performance 700R4 Automatic with a 2200 Stall Torque Converter with Overdrive, so the car can drive at high speeds with the engine running with low RPMs. This helps with performance and gas mileage making trips smoother. We installed Hotchkins Performance Suspension Springs, Bilstein Shock Absorbers and wider tires to handle the extra H/P. We also added front Disc Brakes to improve stopping Power. The car originally came with Power Brakes, so we installed a new Power Booster Pump and Master Cylinder exact to original. Of course, all new stainless steel brake and fuel lines were also installed. All new and correct NOS wiring harness were installed. The gas tank is new. The car came with Original Posi-Traction Rear End Differential, which we installed an upgraded 3.73 Ratio Differential Posi-Traction for better performance. The Power Convertible Top is also a rare option, of which we installed brand new pump motor, lines and cylinders to make sure the power top functions perfectly and smooth. Other than the upgrades, we used all original NOS GM certified parts during restoration. The car is garaged kept and is not driven at all except to local shows etc. While restoring this vehicle we professionally powder coated every metal. The convertible frame, the actual frame of the car, all of the suspension. The metal work has been performed by professionals. Prior to painting, the body on the car was blocked numerous times, as the body is perfectly straight with no ripples or waves in any of the body panels. The paint we used was high end Sikkens paint, original color scheme to the car. (Burgandy Maroone)
