Vehicle Overview 1967ChevellePro-Touring
The builder set out to create an elegant, timeless muscle car with modern performance, handling & comfort to go along with its classic styling. What we ended up with is this '67 Chevelle2 door Sedan that exceeded even our own expectations. Our intention was to build a car that performed as good as it looked & the results speak for themselves. ThisChevellecan be drag raced, autocrossed, or taken on long road trips! It's capable of high 12 second quarter mile passes while still averaging over 25 mpg on the highway with the A/C blowing ice cold! This 1967Chevelle2 door Sedan is a three owner car with the restoration/modification process beginning in 2012 using the highest quality aftermarket & GM parts. American made parts were used extensively throughout this build. Only when absolutely necessary were overseas parts used on this car, & they are few & far between. I have been a member of TeamChevellefor over 15 years, where countless hours were spent researching; ensuring this cars' stunning detail. The car & the engine have barely 100 miles on them since the restoration was completed. The odometer came from another vehicle that could not be reset and shows60Kmi. Highlights include Frame off restoration Laser straight bodywork & stunning black paint Custom leather interior with modern instrumentation 2002LS1all aluminumV8engine with 6 speed manual transmission Intro 18" billet aluminum wheels Upgraded pro touring suspension with tubular control arms front & rear Hotchkis2" lowering package GMHydroboostbraking system with 4 wheelDiscs Vintage Air Custom center console with Dakota Digital climate controls Smoothed Firewall Cruise Control Delay wipers with hidden motor Tilt Steering Custom fabricated tail light bezels Billet hood hinges Griffin aluminum radiator with dualSPALfans & custom fan shroud Custom 2 1/2" exhaust system with stainlessFlowmaster mufflers & tailpipes Fully upholstered & carpeted trunk compartment BODY We started with an original low mile '67Chevelle, & had it media blasted it down to bare metal. What came back from the blaster was a virtually rust free car with the exception of some issues in one floor pan, trunk floor mounts & the rear lower passengerqtrpanel. The AMD 2" steel cowl hood, replaced floor pan, patched quarter panel, & trunk mounts were the only sheet metal repairs. The floor pan repairs also consisted of building a custom transmission tunnel to house the massiveT56manual transmission. All other sheet metal pieces are original to the car as it rolled off the GM assembly line. The bare shell was epoxy primed, all dents were metal worked, then it was sprayed with polyester primer, block sanded, sprayed again with urethane primer, & block sanded again until it was defect free. The laser straight body has been meticulously finished in Chevrolet Tuxedo Black. Pictures do not do the paint any justice. It has stunning depth, amazing clarity, & reflects images like a mirror. Under the hood, the firewall was completely smoothed & painted body color to show off that all aluminumLS1power plant. All exterior trim, with the exception of the custom tail light bezels are restored factory originals; polished & buffed to a brilliant shine. The front & rear bumpers are the original units, both having been triple chrome plated. The custom tail light bezels, were fabricated to blend into the car's original exterior but add a distinctly aggressive looking rear appearance. INTERIOR One look through the window tells you this isn't your typically restored muscle car. The white leather seats & door panels strike a stark contrast against the jet black exterior. Both the seats & door panels are custom designs with all the patterns individually sewn. Creature comforts include Vintage Air a/c, retrofitted cruise control & delay wipers which are both controlled from the turn signal switch in the tilt steering column. The custom dash features a 2007 Cadillac CTS-Vgauge cluster to monitor theLS1'svitals, surrounded by a gorgeous brushed stainless steel bezel with 2 additional gaugesfrom Marshall Instruments. The dash has been completely reworked & smoothed with two Vintage Air a/c vents in the center & one in each corner to provide passengers with plenty of air flow. The custom center console was fabricated from sheet metal & is beautifully wrapped in black leather. Located in the console are the Dakota Digital A/C control unit which allows the driver to precisely set the temperature anywhere between 60 & 85 degrees. Above the A/C controls is a Pioneer Dual DIN touch screen AM/FM stereo with CD player, iPod controls, SiriusXMcapability & USB port. The console arm rest swivels open revealing glove box storage & contains a hiddencupholder. Also installed is an auxiliary mini jack & a 12 volt port for phone chargers, etc. CustomAutosoundkick panels are wrapped in black ultra leather & mounted with Pioneer 6 1/2" speakers. The leather wrappedMomosteering wheel along with the BilletSpecialitiesdoor handles & window cranks add elegant finishing touches. The trunk compartment is fully upholstered & carpeted. The trunk houses the relocated battery & the stereo components, including the subwoofer & amplifier. It's all hidden behind the custom upholstered panels, which are easily removed if needed. DRIVETRAIN A 2002LS1Gen IIIV8was retrofitted & mated to a T-56 six speed manual transmission. The engine was torn down & inspected showing virtually zero wear on the bottom end. The heads were rebuilt with new valves, seals & springs. A light porting of the heads was also performed at this time. The stock intake was upgraded to theLS6version, while the throttle body &MAFsensor were ported & smoothed for better air flow. All emissions equipment was removed from the engine & thePCMwas reprogrammed to eliminate all emissions codes. ThePCMwas also given a light performance tune. Wiring of the engine was done with a stand alone harness from Current Performance & integrated into a new vehicle harness fromEZwiring which features a modern blade type fuse box. Wiring is hidden wherever possible & passes through the firewall where thePCMis mounted out of sight underneath the dash. Gross engine horsepower is roughly 400 with close to 360 making their way to the rear wheels. The engine starts on the first turn of the key & is extremely responsive to the slightest blip of the billetLokaraccelerator pedal. TheT56manual transmission is in perfect working order & shifts like butter. The clutch & flywheel were replaced with brand new pieces to go along with a new GM Performance Parts slave & master cylinder assembly which operates the clutch flawlessly & with very little pedal effort. The shifter is a unit by Pro 5.0 & is extremely precise. The rear end has been upgraded to a GM 8.5" 10 bolt with positraction. It has been rebuilt with a new Eaton limited slip unit & GM 3.42:1 gears. UNDERHOOD Countless hours were spent to achieve the appearance of aChevellethat could have possibly come with the modern LS1engine from the factory...had it been built in the21st century. The smoothed & painted firewall remains almost completely bare with the exception of thehydroboost system & the clutch fluid reservoir. The retrofitted wiper motor is hidden out of sight under the drivers fender while all heater & A/C hoses have been routed under the passenger fender. Thehydroboostunit is bolted to the firewall on a billet aluminum mounting plate & a modern master cylinder operates the 4 wheeldiscbrakes. TheLS1'spower accessories were utilized along with a custom bracket which relocates the alternator to the upper passenger side cylinder head. TheSandenA/C compressor is mounted in place underneath the alternator using slick brackets from Alan Grove products. This allowed the placement of the engine to wind up very close to a traditional small block & ensuring properdriveline angles for a smoother riding vehicle. Cooling the engine is an aluminum Griffin radiator specifically designed for earlyChevelleswithLSpower plants. Bolted to the radiator is a custom aluminum shroud along with dualSPALelectric fans. Custom polished aluminum radiator hoses with silicone hose ends utilize Gates heat shrink hose clamps for a sleek look. An Undercover Innovations show panel aids in engine cooling along with streamlining theunderhoodarea even further. Engine temperatures remain steady between 195 & 205 degrees even in the Vegas summer heat with the A/C cranking! Hedmanmid length ceramic coated headers keep the exhaust flowing smooth, & also greatly reduceunderhood temperatures. Detail items include Eddie Motorsports billet hood hinges, Spectrepolished aluminum cold air intake system, & custom built black braided hoses for thehydroboost& power steering systems. All of them add to the sanitary look of the engine compartment & maintain the theme of the GM retrofitted factory appearance. CHASSIS & SUSPENSION After media blasting, the body & frame were separated, & the frame was then stripped of all its components & blasted to bare metal. It was checked for straightness & then sprayed with an epoxy primer. Some rust pits were smoothed out & it was primed again & sprayed with semi gloss chassis black. The stock suspension components were swapped out with modern, tubular replacements. The front upper control arms areSPCadjustable pieces which eliminate factory suspension geometry issue & also the need for alignment shims. Global West lower arms &Hotchkis2" drop springs set the ride height to the perfect aggressive lowered stance.Proforgedtaller upper & lower ball joints correct suspension geometry issues even further. Rear trailing arms were replaced withPMTupper & lower tubular arms. The rear arms are adjustable & set the correct rear pinion angle to avoid any drive train vibrations at high speeds. 2"Hotchkisdrop springs match the fronts. HotchkisExtreme Sport sway bars are mounted in the front & rear. The power steering gear box is a retro fitted rebuilt unit with 12.7:1 fast ratio and larger torsion bar. The result is off all these upgrades is a 50 year old muscle car that handles like it a late model sports car. The brake system consists all new retrofitted GM components. The newhydroboostunit is the same as GM trucks from the mid2000s. The new master cylinder was stock on 2006 Trailblazer SS cars & works flawlessly with the booster. The 4 wheeldiscbrakes were converted from a 2002 CamaroZ28. Powder coated calipers were all rebuilt & new drilled & slotted rotors make stopping this car a dream. The parking brake system from the Camaro is located in the rear rotor hats & the cables were mated to work with theChevellecomponents. The wheels are gorgeous Intro "Rally" billet aluminum. 18 x 8 fronts & 18 x 10 rears. NewFalkenFK452tires are 245 40 18 for the fronts. 275 40 18 for the rears. UNDERCARRIAGE The detailing of this car didn't stop with theunderhood components. It continued on to every aspect of the chassis. When the body was removed from the frame, the floor pans were stripped of all the factory undercoating & down to bare metal. Thesheetmetalunderneath was sprayed with epoxy primer & then finished in semi gloss black. A beautiful custom built dual exhaust system with an Hpipe are tucked up close to the floor pans to avoid bottoming out on this lowered car. The tail pipes follow the frame rails until they finish right under the rear bumper. Great care was taken to keep the system as discrete as possible when looking at the car from any angle. Flowmasterstainless mufflers sound incredibly docile when idling, but come to life when the revving the engine. A Spectra fuel tank specifically built for earlyChevelles converted to fuel injection houses the in-tank fuel pump. All new brake lines & fuel lines were custom bent to accommodate their updated systems. Feel free to call us with any questions.
