1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 Tribute Additional Info:

With a classic look and plenty of power, this awesome 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle is a tribute to the mighty SS and now packs a built 454 cubic inch big block, making it one of the most potent street machines of the era. With original cars running into six-figure territory, this nicely restored coupe delivers all the thrills of the original and is able to add a few modern conveniences like overdrive, four wheel disc brakes and a kickin' stereo, withthout offending the purists.
Starting with a super-clean southern Chevelle hardtop, the restorer embarked on a quality makeover to create the stunning red-on-black machine you see now. With paint and bodywork that looks extremely crisp and bright, gaps that are even throughout, and all the right details, this Chevelle is obviously the top of the food chain today. Black SS stripes were applied to the correct cowl-induction hood and deck lid, and all the trim was either polished, chromed, or replaced, leaving nothing to chance. The 1970 Chevelle's quad headlight arrangement makes it perhaps the most highly-sought of all A-bodies and it's always easy to recognize in a crowd. You'll also note a correct SS grille up front, proper SS454 badges on the fenders, and a black rubber SS insert on the rear bumper. They'll have a hard time deciding whether this one is legit when they see it at shows.
The stock Chevelle SS interior is quite correct as well, from the comfortable front buckets to the center console housing the horseshoe shifter for the 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission underneath. The seats are complete with the federally-mandated headrests that give them a unique look, and the original dash is full of clean, bright instruments, including a correct 6500-RPM redline LS6 tachometer. Additional details include an aftermarket temperature gauge under the dash, a custom console housing a touch-screen entertainment system, and yes, this car has factory A/C, but it does need servicing. New carpets, door panels, headliner, and other little details make it feel fresh inside, and since it has only been driven a few miles since it was completed, it remains quite convincing in every way. The trunk is neatly upholstered in black carpet, but it's mostly hidden by the gigantic subwoofer enclosure and remote-mount Optima battery stashed back there. The workmanship is quite impressive.
The engine is a 454 cubic inch V8 that's dressed with a combination of aftermarket parts and factory performance hardware. The fact that this car isn't numbers-matching shouldn't be a demerit if your intent is to drive and have fun, and no car is better than this one at generating lunatic grins from behind the wheel. There's an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor up top, along with a matching aluminum intake manifold, a MSD ignition system, and a factory serpentine belt drive system for the accessories. There's also plenty of chrome, along with a set of long-tube headers and a giant radiator to make it run right and stay cool. Everything under the hood is new or freshly rebuilt and it snarls with the most delightfully threatening exhaust note this side of a NASCAR stocker thanks to a set of Flowmaster mufflers. A 700R4 4-speed automatic has been fitted, along with a 10-bolt out back, so it's an easy cruiser on the highway; turn on the A/C and your favorite tunes and just cruise. Correct SS wheels have been installed and fitted with a set of fat Cooper radials.
