1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Additional Info:

With its flashy exterior and tire-smoking power, this 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle represents just what muscle cars are all about! It started life equipped with a V8 engine when it rolled off the assembly line in Flint, Michigan, but now sporting a big block engine, updated badging and a number of upgrades, it's been ably reconfigured as a Super Sport clone, that special breed of Chevelle first entrusted to do battle with its counterparts during the very outset of that era.
With its copper metallic hued exterior, this Chevelle has some serious visual appeal. Compare it to previous years' models and you'll see a noticeably more fluid appearance - the result of a fairly major restyling the year this one came out. It has an agile looking stance - neither markedly raised nor inclined, keeping its center of gravity closer to the asphalt for better cornering than its more elevated brethren. The raised hood and authentic badging on the front, rear and all four corners faithfully recreate the exterior look of the Super Sports of that model year and all retain a good, fresh appearance. It's a well-restored exterior, too - with tight, uniform lines around a hood, doors and trunk that all sit level with their adjacent panels. The bumpers, both in front and in back, remain clean and free of dings and dents, and the trim running along the wheel wells and below the doors looks good, as well. Move around to the front to check out that distinctive, Chevelle front end, with its pair of headlights to each side, and you'll see that the hood trim and front grill are in good condition, too.
Open a door and look inside and you'll see an appealing all-black interior. The vinyl bucket seats in front are looking fresh and plenty supportive, while the bench seat in back looks nearly unused. Look above you and you'll see a nice fresh matching black headliner. Between the bucket seats, a center console provides some convenient storage space. The broad dash area is also black and is capped with an unsplit, even-looking pad on top. It houses the original cluster with a nice clear lense containing the speedometer, fuel gauge and clock and those gauges are augmented by an aftermarket cluster of Sunpro gauges installed in the center console. The upgraded AM/FM stereo occupying the centermost position in the dash sports a very period-correct appearance and Chevy bowtie. It's equipped with a USB port, so you can easily connect it to an iPod to expand your musical options.
When it rolled off the line in Flint, MI, this muscle car was already sporting a V8, but its power has been ratcheted up considerably, courtesy of the 454V8 now residing in the engine compartment. That amply-szied powerplant is dressed up with chrome valve covers, air cleaner and fan shroud and paired with a 4-speed manual transmission that only adds to the full-fledged muscle car driving experience it provides. Sitting in front is a large Harrison radiator, entrusted with keeping the big block nice and cool. The massive engine sounds exceedingly healthy and, with a set of headers leading out to its dual exhausts, has just the low, earthy rumble you're looking for. Underneath you'll find a surprisingly clean undercarriage, with straight frame rails and undented floor pans providing evidence that it's unlikely this Chevelle ever ran aground. This faithful Super Sport recreation sits on a set of 15" Eagle Alloy rims, wrapped in Mastercraft Avenger GT tires.
