1968 Chevrolet Camaro Additional Info:

It's hard to go wrong with a 1968 Camaro finished in beautiful Tripoli Turquoise and carrying a sweet-running small block under the hood. The timeless shape will always look good, and these cars garner instant respect on the road and on the show field. The old adage that special cars will always be special most certainly applies to these early F-bodies.The bodywork on this tidy little Camaro presents as a great weekend driver that you'll happily show off at the local cruise night or out on the streets. Any workmanship seems to have been professional, with straight panels and good gaps throughout, with no major deviations from the factory look. The bright Tripoli Turquoise paint might attract the attention of the local constabulary, but that's what happens when you own one of the most popular and fun-to-drive cars ever created: you want to drive it. Fortunately, all the other goodies on the car make it easy to love, including a blacked-out grille up front, the cowl induction hood, and factory ducktail spoiler that always finishes these cars with a flourish. The twin black stripes down the center of the car distinguish this Camaro from its more plebian siblings, and the rest of the badges have been shaved, giving it a very clean look that's a step up from the garden-variety SS clones you see all the time. The black bucket seat interior is well turned out, and the seat covers are accurate reproductions that are holding up quite well thanks to durable factory-type materials. Everything else is equally well presented, with unblemished door panels, clean carpets, and a taut, neat headliner overhead. Regular readers know we're big fans of the horseshoe shifter and center console on these late-60s GM cars, perhaps the coolest setup ever offered for an automatic transmission. The gauges are original and all work properly, augmented by a set of auxiliary gauges under the dash over on the passenger's side. A newer AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit fits in the original location, snugging into the woodgrained center stack quite neatly and provides a welcome upgrade over the original AM unit. The extremely clean trunk shows you what clean living can get you and helps build confidence that this is a super solid early Camaro. As with most Camaros in 1968, this one carries a strong-running 327 cubic inch V8, which also happens to be its original, numbers-matching powerplant. Rebuilt just a few thousand miles ago, it runs beautifully, with a crisp snarl from the exhaust and quick reflexes on the road. Horsepower enhancers include an Edelbrock intake manifold and a Carter 4-barrel carburetor, while it's nicely dressed in a combination of factory and aftermarket gear for a performance look. The Chevy Orange paint on the block provides a high-visibility background for the chrome valve covers and other components, which makes the engine bay look modern, not 45 years old. It's backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and a rugged 12-bolt rear full of 3.73 gears and a Posi limited slip. There's a new exhaust system, fresh shock absorbers, and floors that are original but in great shape, making this Camaro ready to rock. Gorgeous 17-inch Torque Thrust wheels always look great on a Camaro, and this one wears staggered 225/45/17 front and 245/45/17 rear General radials. This is a sweet little Camaro you can drive and enjoy every day without worries, with a nice dose of flash to make it welcome at show time.
