1973 Chevrolet P 30 Step Van -- Additional Info:
1973 Chevrolet P 30 Step Van Street Rod Show Stopper built by Gas Monkey Garage on the hit show Fast N’ Loud! Well, as promised, here it is. This is the kick ass Step Van you just saw us build on Fast N’ Loud and the transformation is nothing short of breathtaking! Starting with a really solid and straight 1973 Chevy P 30 Step Van that Tony found and bought while Richard was out of town, the decision was made to build something different but with the same attention to detail that we’re known for. We started by removing the body from the frame where the real work began by notching the rear frame and Z’ing the front cross member to allow the Ridetech air ride system to lay the frame out. A Currie 9” rear axle rides on a set of custom U S Mags polished Offy’s 20 X 15 in the rear and 20 X 10 up front with Wilwood brakes all around. A GM Performance ZZ6 crate engine from Scoggin-Dickey powers the Monster Transmissions 4L65E and is fueled by a Holley Terminator Stealth Fuel injection system and MSD ignition control unit. A custom Magnaflow exhaust was fabricated and Ron Davis built the aluminum radiator to keep the engine cool. A Restomod dual Haymaker A/C unit was installed to keep the interior cool front and rear! The body was prepped for paint with the rear wheel wells tubbed to accommodate the Mickey Thompson rear tires. Stripped to bare aluminum, the painstaking process of body prep for the high gloss black paint was begun. All new chrome hardware, latches and custom bumpers were fitted along with all new gaskets and seals. A pair of LED Headlights round out the full complement of LED body lights including side marker, cab clearance and taillights. The interior was finished off with an Ididit steering column, custom dash fabrication to house the front A/C, Ridetech Air Pod controller and custom stereo install with a new Painless Wiring harness connecting everything together including the Classic Industries Custom Gauges. Fold down rear benches were covered in leather matching the front seats and interior panels providing seating for 10!
