1970 Chevrolet Nova Survivor Original Paint 58K Miles Additional Info:

Up for auction is a once in a lifetime find for one lucky bidder. If you love Novas and want a great 1970 Nova please read on. This Nova is being sold by its original owner. The following is a brief story about the Nova. From its first day home this car was pampered. You will not find a cleaner better detailed original 58,000 mile 70 Nova anywhere! Is it a big block 4 speed? No! Is it an SS? No! But it is still a VERY VERY nice original Nova. I am helping the owners sell their pride and joy. I will be happy to answer any and all questions you may have about this amazing time capsule. May 28, 1970 was a special day, it was the day we purchased our first new car, at Hunter Weidner Chevrolet, Anderson, IN. We have all the paper work, including the window sticker and, stock number card that hung from the rear view mirror, the matching tag that has the key ring and all four key number knockouts, the plastic envelope that holds the Protect-o-Plate, the summary of warranty and owner responsibilities, owners manual, Chevrolet consumer information, chassis broadcast copy and Chevrolet pre delivery service and adjustment check sheet. The interior with front and rear mats are original, the mats are included on the window sticker. The vinyl top and paint on the entire body are factory original. The exterior finish has not been repainted or touched up. There are a few rock chips in areas you would expect to find them. The car has never been on frost, ice, salt or snow. The factory spare tire has never been on the ground and jack has never been used. In fact, I even kept the original bottle of windshield fluid. It is still lying inside the spare, where it was on the date of delivery. In October 1970 we took full coverage insurance off and put storage insurance on it for 6 months. We did this every year until 1974 when we got a 1974 Blazer and drove it. Left storage Insurance on until 1980, (from new to 74 we drove it to Canada, Florida, California and Colorado 3 times.) In 1980, the 70 received tags and insurance and every year after during the summer months until 1992. At 22 years old and 49,950 miles, the front transmission seal began to leak and things started to snow ball from there. Starting in March and working thru June of 1992 I pulled the motor and transmission. The transmission, a 350 turbo, received all new soft parts. As I went on to the motor, a 307 200 hp I started with the heads. The heads received new hard seats, guides, valves, springs, keepers, and lock nuts. The heads were resurfaced. Then I replaced the timing chain and gears, water pump and fuel pump. I then began to go thru the Delcotron, distributor and starter, replacing bearings, bushings, brushes etc. All zinc plated parts I had stripped and replated. Then the motor and all parts attached directly to the motor were bead blasted and painted, so each part would be duplicated it its original finish. I worked at Delco-Remy in Anderson, IN from 63-98 so I was able to get all correct parts from Delco. The original intact parts include battery cables with broadcast codes; Delcotron alternator 1100834 37A. OC6; starter 1108367 OD9; distributor 1112005. OD14; along with Voltage regulator, relays and coil; shocks and ball joints. Our two daughters came home from the hospital in this car. It has been part of our family. Through the years, we have really enjoyed our Nova. We joined NNN the fall of 1992 and went to our first Nationals in 1993. The Nova scored a Gold Certificate at the Nova Nationals in 1998. Our 1970 Nova was selected to be apart of The GM Century Cruise Celebration for GM’s 100 year Anniversary on August 15-16, 2008 in Detroit, MI. 1 GM car was picked from each year; for 1970 it was the our Nova. It started out Friday evening at the GM Heritage Center where nearly two hundred classic GM vehicles are showcased and treated to an evening of cruising, music, vintage GM films, Coney dogs, popcorn, soda and a few special awards. A chance to visit and see other cars selected and owners to take part in the celebration. Then Saturday morning the 107 selected cars starting with a 1912 Cadillac met at the GM headquarters at the Renaissance Center for our cruise to join in on the Woodward Cruise. We left the GM headquarters, rolled up Woodward Ave with full police escort, single file to our parking area around 15 mile road. Everyone could look at all the cars and we could set our lawn chairs on the curb and watch all the history roll by, four lanes each direction, GM, Ford, Chrysler, Foreign cars all years, makes and models. The Nova has seen and done lots considering it only has 58,331 miles.
