This 1922 Chevy Full Body (FB) 50 has been part of my collection since 2004. This is a car that has one of the most interesting stories and history in my collection. When I bought the car, I was given documentation going back to the first original owner. I have a Green Bay Press Gazette newspaper article showing the first original owner, his son, and a very unique story up until the time he sold it. (article from the 40's showing a picture of the car and owners and story included). The original owner of the car was named george Seroogy SR. from Green bay Wisconsin. He had bought this car new. The article states that back in June 1 1940, the father used the car for transporting eight different green bay youths to and from their classes at st Norbert College in west De pere. Soon after, pearl harbor came and one by one, many youths of america went into the service for WWII. Georges son,George Seroogy JR (joe was his nickname)served in the airforce and went to Germany. Eventually Hitlers forces were reeling under allied blows, and the end was obviously near. "Get my car ready dad," Joe wrote his father. "I will be home soon". But one day a little later, there was a telegram, "The Secretaryregrets to inform you--" an american bomber had exploded over Germany and all of the crew, (including young Joe,) had exploded over Germany and the entirecrew was lost. The car stood through the years gathering dust as the father George didn't like to use it and could not bring himself to scrap it as it reminded him of his son. Impending conversion to a parking lot of the property where it was stored required the cars removal. George found two Black Creek men, who I was told owned a Chevy Dealership, decided to restore the car as both of them were veterans and appreciated the story and attachment. George states in the article that Joe would have preferred it to stay in veteranhands. one of the second owners name was Gordon Kaphingst. Gordon held on to the car a while I was told and finished restoring the car in 1990. Included in the sale is a copy of the engine rebuild ( $1811 in parts/labor back in 90 done by fondulac auto machine ) Gordon eventually passed away and left the car to his son Gary who kept the car inside their showroom until he sold the Chevy dealership. He then moved the car into his own personal storage. Gary sold me the car in 200, at which time the car showed deterioration of the restoration and my plans were basically to just use it locally in parades and advertising it around my dealership Teddy's Auto sales. I am including the receipts I had from my local shop for around $1000 to tweak it, tune it up etc. In 2010 I put it inside my showroom and it had not been driven until today when I did the video. To make the car show condition, It will need a new top. A complete carb rebuild. One of the wood bows was weak but still functional. The seat leather looks good with no cracking. The carpet and floor wood is like new. The tires look good. The wood wheels look excellent. the wood steering wheel looks great. the dash is in excellent shape. The paint is showing chipping here and there. To make it show quality I would repaint it. The headlights and gauges all work. The trans, brakes, and clutch all function the way they should. AS the video shows, the engine runs great and does not smoke with no knocks or misses. This car comes with a modern clean title in my name ready for you to register. All of the documentation telling the history etc comes with the car. The Chevrolet Full body is the larger version of the baby grand. It is a very rare production. The car from factory was put on a larger frame than the more common baby grand 490, which makes the rear seating area comparble to a cadillac, oldsmonbile, and buicks of the era. Chevrolet used the larger splash system engine which was more powerful than the standard 4 cyl. I am selling this car as it is time to change faces in my showroom so I am offering it as a no reserve. Bid to own this car.
As everybody has their own opinion on what a 95 year old car should be, I recommend coming to inspect the car or hire ebay to do a independent inspection for you, (note this should be done before the auction ends and not after.) make sure to study the pics and video so you see what you are getting. I require a non refundable 200 dollar paypal deposit within 24 hours of auction end, if I do not get the deposit within the time frame or before you come for the car, I will assume you are a dreamer or a scammer and not serious about buying it.I can help recommend shippers i have used in the past who have been very reasonable. If you have any questions at all, call me563 568 5111or563 568 1186! thanks
