Up for sale we have a 1956 Chevy Bel Air Two Door Hard Top. This '56 has under gone a full frame off restoration. It's done in period correct colors with the interior also being correct. It retains the stock 3 Speed Trans with the engine being upgraded. In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief description of the exterior, interior, and heartbeat of the Chevy, but first we would like to tell you a little about us.
Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee. We are family owned, operated, and own our entire inventory, no consignments, and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. You can count on us to have 70 to 80 cars at all times. We don't have a big show room that our customers would otherwise pay for. So, that's how we can sell for less than other dealers. To contact us for more information, pictures, or any questions call our office at (865)988-8088 or visit our SmokyMountainTraders website.
We will start off with the exterior of the Bel Air. The body was pulled off the frame and apart, took to the metal, and refitted before being pulled apart for paint. Everything is covered in the two tone Crocus Yellow and Onyx Black paint scheme. The paint on this '56 has been buffed and polished to mirror finish and is slick as a ribbon. All the side stainless was either polished or replaced at the time of the resto. As for the chrome the bumpers were replaced with the rest either being rechromed or replaced. The glass was also replaced, with the side glass being smoked, it has new seals and gaskets were installed. You'll also see the weather stripping around the doors and trunk were also replaced. To complete the look this Chevy is sitting on stock rims painted body color with wide whites and full size hub caps.
Next, we will look at the interior of the '56. On the inside it looks as it would have when new. It has the correct seats that are covered in the period correct vinyl and cloth covers that are yellow and charcoal gray. The door panels are done in two tone as well, with the carpet being black and the headliner being yellow. When you look at the dash it's done in the Onyx Black with the only change being to the radio. All the interior stainless and trim is in great condition. Inside the trunk it's all painted correct and has the floor mat, spare, and jack.
Finally, we will take a look at the heartbeat of the Chevy. Under the hood it follows suite with the rest of the car and looks like it would have in '56. The fire wall and inner fenders are painted correct. When we bought this '56 we were told the engine is 350 with a 400 crank making it a 383 stroker. All we have verified is that the block is a 350 Crate Motor casting#10066038. The engine is dressed with period correct valve covers, breather, and manifolds. You'll notice the charging system has been changed from the generator to the alternator. The trans appears to be the period correct 3 Speed hooked to the stocky style rear end. This '56 has manual steering and four wheel drum brakes. When you look under this Bel Air you can see the frame was cleaned and painted black before new bushings were added front and rear. The floors are painted body color and it also has a new fuel tank and lines.
