1971 Chevrolet Camaro V8 5.7 LT1 Fuel Injection T56 6-Speed
This great looking Chevy Camaro was restored couple of years ago. It has only 6,436 miles after restoration and conversion. It is powered by C8 5.7 fuel injection LT1 with a 6-speed manual T56 transmission. This Chevrolet runs and drives very strongly and it is a great conversion the way it’s equipped with fuel injection and 6-speed transmission. It has a digital dash. The computer is installed on a passenger side firewall. The fuses associated are under shifter plate. I bought this beauty from a collector who personally owned it for 20 years. It was garaged for most of the time. You can easily drive it cross-country without ever worrying about anything. All gages work as they should. All the lights light up well. The engine and transmission were swapped from a 1995 Firebird with only around 50,000 miles on engine and transmission. This Chevy has a very strong engine and transmission, drives and shifts great, the clutch works just fine. The dual muffler sounds great.
Mechanical
It is a 1971 Camaro with 1995 Firebird fuel injected LT1 5.7L engine and T56 6-speed manual transmission. Here are some highlights:
-Hedman Headers 68609 with custom dual exhaust.
-New Vintage USA direct fit instrument cluster.
-Vintage Air Gen-II Compac A/C and heat.
-Pioneer Mixtrax radio and Pioner 6X9s.
-You'll also get a 1971 Camaro factory service manual on a CD from Detroit Iron and 1995 Camaro/Firebird original factory service manuals.
-The 1995 LT1 computer has been edited through TunerCat for VATS removal and EGR valve delete modification.
-The clutch has custom master clutch bracket.
-The brakes are manual ones and they work great.
The AC works great - blows cold, and the heater works great -blows warm.
-The horn has an electric black box type relay, co-located with headlight relays. This was due to the original horn relay not working. The horns were also re-located to driver side.
-The radiator fans are powered through a black control box located on the middle top of the fan shroud. The temperature pickup is on the driver side of the radiator. You could potentially use the LT1 computer to turn on fans but I never did that.
-This Camaro has the highest CCA battery that could be fit in there. It works great. Always starts right up.
-The engine accessory routing was custom made and welded so ensure you buy the exact size best that’s on it now instead of a 1995 Trans Am belt.
-The LT1 engine is an OBD1 system but in 1995 they used an OBDII receptacle with the OBDI computer, so the same was done (in retrospect an OBDI receptacle could have been put in place). So the OBD connector is under the driver side dash, under the ashtray. TunerCat was used to program the LT1 computer. It was used to remove the security VATS system and EGR.
-The electric fuel pump is located on the passenger side just in front of the rear tires.
Exterior
-Underneath is very clean.
-Floor pans were replaced several years ago.
-Tires still have a good amount of tread.
-There is also a bumper jack and a spare tire.
-The car has air shocks with the fill port located behind the license plate.
-Headlights have electric relays added to make them brighter. They are black box type relays that are located on the driver side in the engine compartment, near the K&N air filter.
The exterior has got a great shine to the paint, it is very presentable. It’s an old car, so the floor has been changed; Maybe it has some bubbles, if you look close by, can’t call it rusts, 'cause it has none, just some imperfections throughout the years.
The paint is 7 years old, still shines greatly; front bumper chrome is nice. Overall it gets a lot of attention. You can put a stripe on it, and it will look nice also, but it’s your preference.
Interior
Front and back seats are reupholstered and fabric is in good condition.
The interior is in great condition, it’s got new fabric material that was gotten a couple of years ago; dash is great, gages work great, door panels are fine, all is just so good, just check out the pics.
Its handling, running and driving are great. It is a great custom built Camaro with a drivetrain to work great.
This Camaro has really been professionally rebuilt to make it work just fine.
