1950 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 Styleline BELAIR Additional Info:

A beautiful Belair that you can drive anywhere. The car has received a major mechanical restoration to make this car reliable and a pleasure to drive. Be ready to talk about this car with everyone, it is so distinctive and it is always a crowd favorite. A southern car from Atlanta now in MA.
The exterior looks great in the pictures as the paint still has a great shine. The paint and body were used as found and the mechanicals got all of the attention. If you look closely at the paint you will find just about every paint defect possible except no rust. The paint has been on there a long time probably 30 years so the car cannot be too bad underneath. The car is from Atlanta Georgia, safe from snow and salt for all of these years. The bottom is also in good shape. The bottom does not show very well because it still has a lot of the original undercoating which is covered in red Georgia dirt. The drivers front floor pan was replaced with a new panel. There are dings, blisters, scratches, some corrosion around the trim etc. This is not a perfect car but a great driver that might not win the show but it sure stops the show. The body is respectable and no worries about getting a door ding is so liberating. We take it everywhere.
This was the first year for the top of the line Belair. They called it a hardtop convertible with the distinctive 3 window rear window, banded headliner and no pillar sides. This one has all of the extra trim with bumperettes, license plate guard and the grill guard too. The rear also has the body guard where all of these extra pieces are extremely rare. Yes the bumpers do have some paint on them. The stainless trim is all in good shape. The chrome plated trim has some corrosion.
For the mechanical restoration, it only as about 1500 miles on it We took out the old 235 truck engine and went with a brand new 350 crate engine from GM. The engine got all new accessories, water pump, fuel pump, mini starter, battery, plugs, wires, zz4 distributor, edelbrock 1405 carb with electric choke, edelbrock intake. hoses, belts, radiator with electric fan too, This was all professionally installed.
There is a new dual exhaust system with nice sounding dual mufflers. The brake lines, gas lines and fuel tank, and sending unit are new too.
For the front end we kept the original style but replaced every part with new parts from Kanter including the king pins, shocks and coil springs. It handles nice and these same front ends were used on early Corvettes.
The brakes are all new including a front power disc system also from Kanter designed to fit under the floor like the originals. The rear brakes are drum going to the 57 chevy rear end. The transmission is a saginaw 4 speed. New seals and bearings for the rear end too.
5 new tires, Caprice wheels, Caddie wires, and yes that is a GM, FW code 15x7 rally wheel for a spare.
The drive train is a nice fit that pulls the car along with no troubles. The rear end with 355 gears is a nice match for the engine and transmission. This is not meant to be a race car, but instead a reliable driver that is fun to drive.
The wiring is all new with vintage style. A turn signal kit was added too. The dash lights work fine, the speedometer is pretty accurate. The only original gauge that works is the oil gauge. Aftermarket temp and fuel gauge. Hot rod heat was added for those cold mornings. The horn is now on a switch. The wipers now have an electric conversion. The radio does not work. The back up lights are wired to the shifter.
The interior has recent carpet and leather seats from a 2011 Malibu. There is a small carpet gap by the shifter The original seats were gone when I got the car, The seats are power and very comfortable. The rear seat even folds down like a newer car. The headliner is very nice
The left vent window is cracked and needs a latch, the windshields and rubber seal are new. The drivers window is stiff to get up and down, i am including a roller kit for it.
I am trying to describe defects but keep in mind this is a driver hot rod not a 100 point show car. The body was used as found from 30 years in dry storage
There is 1 key for everything
This is great car, that draws attention and everyone wants to talk about it.
