1966 Chevrolet C-10 Fleet Side Additional Info:

We all think that we can build something cheaper and better than the next guy well I'll explain how someone in the automotive business spent $40,000 over 7 years at industry discounts and wholesale pricing to build what started as an inexpensive daily driver.
Up for sale is my 66 C10 Fleetside Long Bed Truck. I bought this truck in 2007 from the second owner. It was a trade-in from my dealership and basically a basket and needed everything when I bought it. What I liked about this truck was that it had very little rust and it had all the original body panels. It was always a California vehicle. It lived on a small ranch in central California so it didn't live in a cold rust area. It started as a simple build. I figured I would just paint it and keep the inline 6 and make it a daily driver. We later discovered the stock motor had a cracked head. After pricing the cost to rebuild an inline to make any sort of horsepower I decided if I was going to Spend $5k for a motor it better be a V8 and make some power. After settling on 383 I had the motor built. We used a 4 bolt main block, HM 3.75 1053 cast steel stroker crank, externally balanced, GM2 rods with hardened bolts and speedpro 2 relief pistons balanced, aluminum heads with big 215 cc heads, 650 lift manley springs, 1.6 7/16 Roller rockers that I had to custom grind to clear the giant valve springs. Manley double roller chain, polished HP crosswind dual plane aluminum intake, hand fab valve covers, Holley polished fuel pump, 7 quart zinc oil pan, ARP bolts for intake, misc ARP on motor. Valve cover stud kits to easily remove valve covers and set valve lash.
I realized that I needed a heck of a trans to hold up to the power. I did some research and found some guys building some great transmissions called Mad Dog Transmission in Georgia. I had them build the trans I wanted it to hold up to 700HP with hardened input shaft, crisp shift, heavy duty 2200 stall converter painted red to match the motor. I had Jim at JE Reel Drive-line in Pomona build me a custom drive-line rated to 1,000 HP. I will attach a picture of my excel spreadsheet that itemizes the $40,000 in parts and misc for build. Less than 500 miles on since build.
