1957 Chevrolet Other Pickups 3200 Additional Info:

Up for sale is a FACTORY 283 4 Speed RUNNING AND DRIVING 1957 Chevrolet 3200 Stepside Rat Rod Pickup. Lots of Patina! This is a RARE TRUCK with a LOT OF POTENTIAL!!
Engine- 283 cui small block chevy, freshly rebuilt. Completely disassembled and put back together, new aftermarket camshaft, edelbrock aluminum intake, edelbrock carb, new hei distributor, new alternator, headers, brand new high capacity aluminum radiator, new battery, newer aluminum fuel cell, belts and hoses, you get the idea. The engine compartment has been detailed and painted with lots of chrome including air cleaner and valve covers.
Exhaust-Newer mufflers (Flowmaster / Magnaflow?) and exhaust pipes
Transmission- 4 speed truck transmission, 1st gear is bulldog, the trans shifts and works as it should. Original shifter with chrome piston knob.
Bed- Brand new wood in the bed along with aluminum fuel cell mounted.
Interior- Has later model seats out of a van I would think in red and gray. Has original headliner that was painted black. Floors, dash and door panels were all painted satin black. New carpet installed along with newer black and yellow larger Chevy floor mats. Has a vintage Monit dash tach installed (not pictured). Rare radio delete plate. New set of water temp and battery amp gauges. Brand new chrome interior window and door handle knobs.
Brakes- I put all new brakes front and back, new wheel cylinders and shoes, new brake lines, new master cylinder, all properly adjusted
Wheels/Tires- 20 inch wheels from a 2007 Silverado the tires have over 50% tread left
Glass- Brand new side window glass, back glass is good, vent glass is good, windshield is original and has a crack and a couple of little rock dings, adds to the patina look with old stickers on it.
Body- This truck was used by the Oneida Mining Company down in Oneida, Tennessee before it sat in a junk yard for over 20 years. Then it became a work in progress for my Dad. It was in a hot rod magazine that featured the salvage yard and this truck as having potential. So it shows a lot of wear and tear. It has recently been painted in satin black with the Chevrolet painted on the tailgate in red. Also installed 24"x24" vinyl high quality graphic of the Dude from the Big Lebowski entitled "The Dude Abides".
Lights- All hooked up and working, including brakes, tail lights, head lights. All wiring is new front to back and the actual tail light, parking lights, and brake light fixtures are new.
Bumper- Has both front and rear bumpers
Rear End - Has a stock rear end, we think it could be a 4.11 posi-traction, but not sure.
What the truck still needs:
What it needs most is love and attention by someone like my Dad who appreciates the truck. TLC is really important! Otherwise, the thing it actually needs is pretty minor (see below)
Needs electrical wire covers with plastic in the engine compartment and along the frame (Dad never got around to it, but it's easily acquired at Auto Zone, etc.). He said it hides the wires and would help them from being exposed to weather and wear.
Horn
Wipers (not sure about those)
Heater (installed, just not hooked up)
Radio (Dad can throw in an aftermarket one he was going to install underneath the seat with box speakers)
Gas Gauge (not hooked up)
Speedometer (not hooked up)
Sun Visor (frame/mechanical parts is there, cardboard was wore out..easily purchased from catalogs and only needs one for the driver side)
It never had turn signals so that would be needed
Doesn't come with any seat belts installed, but we could throw one in from a GMC.
Suspension and steering (no power) is original. They all work, but they're 60+ years old so if you want it to drive like a more modern vehicle, that's something you'll want to replace with a subframe.
Trim- Original side and hood chrome, match condition of the truck.
It is a head-turner with history and not for the faint at heart! Unfortunately, Dad just does not have the energy to complete the project so he's hoping it will go to someone interested in preserving this special truck!
Please bear in mind that this truck is over 58 years old and is far from a mint original. The drivetrain alone is worth the money regardless of it being a factory v8 4 spd.
