Chassis Upgrades:Four year build. First the stock rear floors under the rear seat and clear back to the rear bumper were removed along with the stock gas tank and spare tire tub. A 53 chevy station wagon rear floor and it's dogbone gas tank, spare tire tub and fold down rear seat were retrofitted into the fleetline. The rear seat braces were removed and a 1" x 2" tube steel framework was welded in their place to retain structural integrity while allowing the seat to fold down creating a cargo/sleeping area large enough for two adults. Convenient bulkhead cabinets of solid mahogany were built into and over the rear fender wells. Nautical hardware is used liberally throughout. The trunk and seat back and bottom along with the entire floorboard area all the way forward is protected with a heavy gauged ribbed rubber mat wall to wall. Underneath that is sound deadening duramat. Floor and interior as a whole is very easy to maintain, practically indestructible.
