1948 Chevy Chevrolet loadmaster - 292 engine 12 volt

I'm selling, at NO RESERVE, a beautiful 1948 Chevrolet loadmaster farm truck. The list goes on and on for this truck, but I'll try to get everythingincluded.

First of all, the work that was done to this truck was all done years ago by the Chevrolet dealer, in the western Kansas town that the truck came from. The biggest improvement that this truck has had made to it, is the installation of the big 292 six cylinder engine. Although staying with a Chevy 6 keeps a somewhat original look - you get about twice the horsepower of the original 216 as well as a much more durable, full oil pressure engine. This truck has also been converted to 12 volt, for much easier starting. It was all done right, as bulbs have been changed, oil pressure gauge was changed for new engine, foot starter removed and covered, push button on dash installed. There was a lot of time spent to make this a usable, durable truck. This wasn't going to car shows, it was going to work. It was still in use up until two years ago. Not because of something wrong with the truck, simply because the farmer retired and rented out his land. That is why I was able to purchase it.

As far as I can tell, this truck has zero rust and has never had any. I know this truck has been stored inside when not in use for the majority of its life. All of the lights work, all the gauges work - even the gas gauge! It does have a 2speed rear diff that works. The needle has fallen off the speedometer, so it's one of the very few things that is not operational on this truck. It obviously has a hydraulic dump bed which also works great, however, I was told that it does leak a little hydraulic fluid from a seal on the hydraulic pump and that they would add a little every year before harvest. I also had to add a little to get it to raise. The bed itself is a beautiful wood bed in great shape. The tip tops will come off easily, if needed, for transportation. The truck has power brakes, and they work great, but I did have to add some brake fluid after the truck had sat for 2 years - so should probably be checked over. The glass is all in very good condition also, with no cracks, major pits etc. All the little things - knobs, switches, etc., are all there. The windows roll up and down nice, the doors shut well. The heater fan motor works, the horn works, the turn signals work. I'm not saying that it is a perfect truck, it isn't, but it is a farm truck that has been very well taken care of over the years. It does have a couple of dings - one on the hood and a scrape on the left fender - but overall is just exceptionally straight and clean. The old seat cover is shot, but I left it on just so you can see how I got the truck. All I have done is add a little hydraulic fluid, a little brake fluid, put in a battery, rinse off some dust and vacuum it out. I would recommend a good once - over before driving any distance, and just changing fluids due to age. The tires are old and not in very good shape, so that will need to be addressed sooner rather than later.

I buy and sell quite a few old farm trucks, and this is definitely one of the nicest and most usable of this vintage that I have seen, but keep in mind that it is almost 70 year old and sat for a couple of years, so there will most likely be a couple of little things that need attention here and there. If you are wanting to haul this truck home yourself, it will haul on an 18ft trailer, as this is what I hauled it home on. The owner had lost the title, but filed for a new one. It should be here before end of auction, I only mention this in case the state is running a little behind. I guarantee a clean, clear title. I don't mind the truck sitting here a while if you are arranging transport, as long as its paid for. Feel free to check my feedback, I'vesold a lot of old trucks with zero disappointments, and please call or text with any questions. Cort - 620-786-5172 Thank you and Good luck.
