1973 Chevrolet Nova Hatchback Additional Info:

For sale in our Chicago showroom is a very cool and unusual 1973 Chevrolet Nova Custom Hatchback. If you want to travel back to the 1970s, you won't need your bell bottoms and platform shoes. Just jump into this two-owner classic and boogie on down the road. The third generation Nova was perhaps the most attractive and well known of the Nova series and this '73 is a nice example. This Nova features many new parts and components and is ready for cruising on Saturday night or as a nice driving car. The most notable feature is the unique hatchback, which was sold and marketed primarily in the south and southwestern states. In addition to having ample storage space there was a dealer accessory of a tent that could turn this versatile vehicle into a small camper. Need to move or pack lots of stuff? Just fold down the rear seat and you almost have a station wagon. This Nova originated in California and the second owner has lovingly upgraded the car with many new parts, including a 307 CID-V-8 Chevy crate engine 4 years ago. This replacement engine has just over 350 miles on it but carries a 36,000 mile warranty. Recently this has been augmented with a new alternator, compressor, "O" rings, hoses, and belts. Additionally, the owner had the air conditioner converted from its original form to the more efficient and environmentally friendly R-134a Freon. The Rochester carburetor and manifold are the originals included on the car and have been rebuilt and replaced professionally by a shop that specializes in these cars. The 350 Turbo transmission and shift kit was also rebuilt about 10 years ago and currently has a little over 5,000 miles. Other recent mechanical improvements include new plug wires, distributor cap, water pump, brakes, and brake lines. The car was repainted three years ago in DuPont Russet Brown with a touch of black to bring out the deeper hues. The repaint also included all new side molding, window moldings, and rally wheels. In the interior, the original door panels and vinyl rear seat have held up very well. The front buckets were reupholstered with the correct fabric and patterns approximately ten years ago, the same time the carpeting was replaced. Options include AM/FM radio and cassette player, power steering, power brakes, seat belts, radial tires, and original Nova rally wheels. The owner has retained all the receipts for the work.
