When Dave McLellan replaced Zora Arkus-Duntov as the chief engineer for Team Corvette, e had some legendary shoes to fill. Assuming control in 1975, cLellan lead the brand through some of the darkest days of Detroit performance. By 1983, hange was on the horizon and at the forefront of that change was the highly evolved fourth generation Corvette. With timeless looks, utting-edge technology and storied small block power, he long-awaited C4 was destined to be viewed as a major milestone in American sports car history. This pristine, 131-mile coupe is a fully documented survivor that's been carefully tucked away from time, ear and the elements. If you're in the market for a top-notch example of one of Chevrolet's most desirable Corvettes in one of the Corvette brand's most desirable colors, ou're looking at your next car!

BODYWORK/TRIM

Steal one glance down the sides of the car's slick body and it becomes very obvious that, ver its 1,831-mile life, reat care was taken to maintain a factory-fresh appearance. Step closer to the car's wet looking finish and check out straight and ripple-free panels that aren't plagued by any cracks or major imperfections. Grab the car's well-adjusted hood and feel how smoothly it opens to provide excellent fit that's set off by a glossy clearcoat sheen. If you like vintage Corvettes that are completely true to their assembly line state, hey don't get more authentic than this!

ENGINE

From the original 283 cars to the brutal C7 Z06, hevrolet has done an excellent job keeping performance alive behind the Corvette cross-flags. This low-mileage coupe continues that work with one of GM's venerable 5.7 liter LT1 V8s. Not to be confused with the moody LT-1 of the 1970s, his version was introduced in 1992 as a thoroughly modern form of small block motivation. The foundation is an iron, -bolt casting, opped with aluminum heads, hat utilizes speed density fuel management, atch-fire injection and a dedicated ECM to twist 300 horsepower into 340 lb./ft. of street-slaying torque. Known for its good manners and calm demeanor, he LT1 is a great street engine, ith a quick reminder of Team Corvette's performance history returning through a simple stab of the go pedal. As a practically new piece, early everything under this coupe's hood appears to be factory-installed. And, ith a quick turn of the key, he mill fires to life, ettling in to a smooth idle with a great factory exhaust note.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Behind that hot small block, proven ZF 6-speed distributes power to a factory Corvette rear end. With ample torque on tap, his Vette is plenty quick off the line, ut retains the highway manners of a family car thanks to tall rear gears. The C4 suspension was engineered to compete on an international level, eaturing lightweight aluminum spindle uprights, -arms, alf shafts, nd control arms. Stops are handled by power-assisted calipers, hich clamp four vented discs. Power meets the pavement through machined aluminum wheels, hich spin 255/45ZR17 Goodyear Eagle GS-Cs in front of 285/40ZR17 Goodyear Eagle GS-Cs. The bottom of this coupe is every bit as nice as its spotless engine compartment and glossy exterior panels, howing minimal wear and almost no signs of weathering. The car's bright suspension bits contrast nicely to a clean floorpan. And its straight and solid chassis barely looks like its seen ANY time on the road.

INTERIOR

Good preservation is key to any vintage car's interior, nd this C4's cockpit looks factory fresh in virtually every way. The plush driving environment kicks off with a pair of power-adjustable buckets that are stitched in black leather. In front of those buckets, leather-wrapped and cross-flag branded steering wheel laps a conservative dash that's fitted with both clear analog and bright digital gauges. Inside that dash, he car's modern center stack anchors electronic climate control above a premium Delco Bose sound system and simple, lack shifter. Opposite that center stack, onochromatic side panels feature switches for power windows, ower door locks and power-adjusted mirrors. At the back of those panels, surprisingly spacious cargo hold features enough room for short, eekend road trips. And naturally, ll the amenities and conveniences you've come to expect in a modern ride are present and accounted for.
