1987 Chevrolet C/K Pickup 1500 Additional Info:

This is the one you want to restore!!
How can I be so certain this is the one? Let me tell you how: When I brought this truck home, my wife went absolutely bat-sh!t crazy and lost her mind and didn't talk to me for three days. I don't remember having that much silence in my life in along time. For a few thousand you can enjoy some peace and quiet too.
Ok, let's get serious.
This was a one-owner truck up until recently. An older guy was the original owner and then he gave (sold for title purposes) it to hisnephew to restore. It sat in his driveway for about ten years and I tried to buy it quite a few times, but it was always "I'm going to restore it." I drove by this truck literally for ten years and it didn't go anywhere, justsat there with the factory bed cover on it.
In April this year I was driving by again and all of a sudden there was a For Sale sign on the truck. I pulled over and talked to the guy (who by now was getting to be a bit "older." He told me that his wife said "Get rid of that truck, you are never going to restore it." Plus, he just bought a new red Ford F150 (but I won't comment about that decision). He let his son in high school use it for a few months but as the tickets in the glovebox can attest, he got three speeding tickets. So the guy took the truck away from him and put the For Sale sign on the truck a few hoursbefore I stopped.
I bought it from him and like I said, brought it home and my wife flipped out. I said "Don't worry, these Chevys are like tanks. Nothing ever goes wrong." My intention was to use it as my farm truck (I'm an oysterman) but about a month later the transmission started to slip, so I parked thetruck. Now you can imagine the grief I got when I said the "new" truck I just bought doesn't go anywhere. It does drive, butdoesn't have reverse and theshop said it needs a rebuild. I didn't have a good crop last year and I'm a bit thin on cash, so I don't have the money to rebuild the transmission. It will have to be towed on a flatbed unless you have a really good Triple A towing plan.
The truck is also in pretty good shape so I'd like to see it go before winter to someone who wants to restore it. These trucks are getting harder and harder to find, so here are some more details:
V8 -- 305 Fuel Injection, starts every time. As youprobably know, 1987 is the only year you could get fuel injection in this body style. It's a TBI, has the same setup in my 1988 Camaro.
2WD 700R4 trans.
Built in Flint Michigan -- Build card pic attached if you are into decoding truck specs.
Factory AC -- belt off pump, assume clutch is frozen.
Very, very original. This might be one of best selling features. All the little trim pieces, screws, emblems, etc. are in place.
Chrome bumpers are MINT.
Interior of bed is MINT, has a bed mat, and has factory bed cover.
Brand new but not installed Walker exhaust includes cat, intermediate pipe, muffler with correct dual outlets, twin tailpipes and clamps.
Sliding rear window.
Factory radio and speakers.
All original wiring, nothing has been cut or modified.
factory wheels and trim rings.
Almost no rust. Only some surface rust around the factory bed cover snaps and some surface rust under the door sills.NOTHING IS RUSTED THROUGH with the exception of both front fender wells, each has a small bit of rust.
SOLID FRAME. I went through this truck and for a Northeast truck, there is no rust in the frame. I expect that since this is a 2WD truck, it was never used in winter and din't get any salt underneath.
New Radiator and hoses.
I did an oil change and have AC Delco plugs fora tune up.
New Goodyear front tires. Rear tires are not new, but not worn either.
Removed the Ben Carson for President bumper sticker. Left the NRA sticker and Springfield M1903 barrel which was behind the seat. Adds character I guess.
So that's a very honest description of this truck. It's a super solid truck, if you are handy you can drop out the trans and have a daily driver. If you want to restore a truck for shows, this is a great pick. It just looks and drives nice. And if you want to drop in a 454 or 502 and tub the rear, be myguest.
Since I'm only looking for what I paid for this truck, it's a Low Reserve Auction.
Thanks for reading and good luck.
