1955 Cadillac Eldorado Coupe

One of the most unique and interesting 1950’s Cadillacs to come up for sale.It was well known that General Motors in the mid 1950’s during the Motorama Era would build unique concept cars for on-show purposes using standard components and it is a fact that in 1955 Cadillac Eldorado was sold only as a convertible. The car in this listing has all the possibilities of being one of the prototype Cadillacs that was made to show executives how a 1955 Cadillac Eldorado coupe (2-door hardtop) would look.

The following facts are that the car is an existing 1954 coupe with original doors, front fenders, hood that were reused and fitted with 1955 Eldorado rear clip, arm rest, caps, front bumpers and grille assembly.

It was believed that this car was possibly made to represent an early vision of the future 1956 Cadillac Eldorado Seville hardtop coupe that sold 3900 units.Could this possibly be the first Eldorado Seville ever built…that is the question. There is no documentation to prove that but when contacting some retired General Motors executives, they said that this pattern of the build on this car could easily fit the pattern of a prototype car made for full scale experimental visual display.

Further the factory build sheet invoice shows that the car was not shipped anywhere but left the factory on a “Will call” and this could be that the car was not sold by a dealer but to a company employee. We are the first to say that there is much speculation on this car.

VIN#546229528 Motor VIN#5586120407

Mileagebelieved to be 88,000 miles - odometer reading not correct.

Bottom line is that this car is a fantastic looking collecto car and has a very good street presence but is not a show restoration. The interior has been redone recently (in non-leather).

This car is equipped as you would expect with Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows, Power Seats

It has been recently stripped down to bare metal for a new paint job.

If you are the type of collector that wants something totally unique and want to show up at the next Cadillac National Meet and have a story to tell about this very attractive car, this could be the next car you want for your collection.

This is a very unique car with a unique story that could very well fit the story for its completion. It is 100% Cadillac.
