There were two actual pace cars. In addition to the two high-performance pace cars, 53 parade cars were created for race day, and 513 promo cars were built and shipped to dealers with the graphics packages in the trunk.

We purchased the car from the Bob McDorman collection in September 2007. Bob told us it was one of the track cars and he had it back on the track for the Indy 500 100th anniversary.

The 57th Indianapolis 500 Race was held on May 28, 1973. A Cadillac Eldorado Convertible was chosen as the Official Pace Car that year. Veteran Indy driver Jim Rathmann drove the actual pace car and led the pack to start the race.

This car has a special plaque that was mounted on the instrument panel to the left of the clock identifying the car as replica. The plaques featured a black and white checkered crossed flag insignia at the top, and stated in red script below, "This Eldorado Convertible is a limited-edition replica of the 1973 Indianapolis 500 Official Pace Car".
