1965 Cadillac DeVille Additional Info:

This is a rust-free, mostly original 1965 Cadillac Convertible. It is a dry California/Arizona car with beautiful original chrome. Great colors with a dark gunmetal grey exterior (Ascot Grey), black convertible top and black leather interior.
It is loaded with options, including: A/C (working), P-Windows, P-Vent Windows, P-Door Locks, P-Trunk, P-Seat, P-Antenna, Tilt-Telescope Steering Column, Guide-Matic Headlights, Twilight Sentinel Headlight Timer, Tinted Glass, and Rear Seat Belts. It also has a nice, modern stereo system installed.
This car was stolen at one point in its history and because of that it comes with a restored salvage title. The car had been sitting for a while when I purchased it and I have done a lot to it to make it a clean, running and driving Cadillac, but it is by no means a perfect car.The odometer shows 47,300 miles which may be original, but I have no way of knowing for sure. It has had one older repaint in the original gunmetal grey color. The black leather interior is 95% original, as is the convertible top (including the top motor, hoses, and cylinders).
The car runs and drives. The transmission shifts smoothly and may have had some work done to it. The steering is excellent. The brake master cylinder, all the wheel cylinders, and all the brakes hoses are brand new. There is a vacuumleak at the brake booster, so the brakes work fine but the petal is a bit stiff (the brake booster should probably get a new kit). Brand new upper control arm bushings installed. The whitewall tires are only two weeks old and have no miles on them.
I charged the A/C when I purchased the car and it functioned perfectly. The refrigeranthas leaked out since then though, so the A/C is working but leaks and will need another charge. The air conditioning system has been converted to r134a already.
The body is nice overall, and very straight. Nice, rust free sheetmetal. It has an older paint job which has some issues, the worst of which is a section on the right qt panel that has actually had some paint loss (please see pictures). There are chips in the paint here and there, some nicks and scratches, some cracking in the paint on the rt qt and the front of the hood, and some rub marks from a car cover or tarp (which would probably polish out). There is a small dent on the front tip of the hood, and one dent in the driver's side door (I have included pictures of all of these areas). This car could look fantastic with some paint repair, but if you want a show car it would need a new paint job. But this is a dry, rust free car and you won't find many surprisesunder the paint!
The original chrome and stainless trim are excellent. The bumpers have minor pitting only. The original convertible top has shrunk some along the sides above the windows but doesn't have any cracks or holes. The weatherstripping and rubber is original and most of it is pretty dry.
The interior is nice. Newer carpet in the cabin, and new trunk interior. The leather on the seat cushions has shrunk some, but the rest of the original black leather interior on the seats and panels is very nice. There are some cracks in the dash pad but there is a dash mat in the car. There is a modern stereo which consists of a headunit installed in the glove box, cd changer and subwoofers in the trunk, interior speakers installed in custom kick panels and center speakers in a custom pod in the dash, all wired through an Alpine amplifier and speaker crossovers.
All the power windows work (one power vent window works). All the gauges work, All the exterior lights work. The power trunk works. The stereo works. The power top motor is original and it works but is a bit weak, so it needs a little help going up and down. The power seat motor works but the seat doesn't move (could be an easy fix). The power door locks and the clock do not work.
This car can be used and enjoyed exactly the way it is, or is a fantastic start on a dream Cadillac convertible build. More pictures available on request, including the undercarriage (dry, rust free). It is located in Phoenix, Arizona.
