1964 Cadillac DeVille Convertible Additional Info:

The origin of the name DeVille, is from the French coachbuilding term "de la ville", or "of the town". Everyone will be well aware of that when you roll through in this dramatic, Red, Deville convertible. 1964 was the first year for a convertible DeVille, and it was the only year for this body style as they promptly redesigned the car for '65. The long hood reaches forward leading proudly with a Cadillac crest. It is flanked by broad shouldered fenders topped with chrome that shroud dual headlights. Between them is a unique grill with a bi-angular design that forms a V-shape along both is vertical and horizontal planes. A body colored bar cuts through the center from side to side and it is all underlined by a substantial chrome bumper that wraps around the sides. The side itself cuts a long clean line with a thin chrome accent running front to rear. Rear wheel spats enhance the look, and of-course, you gotta love those tail fins that end in steeply angled brake lights. Another Cadillac crest, this time nestled in a laurel wreath graces the trunk lid and the chrome bumper forms an H shape as it captures the taillights and underlines everything nicely. Open the door, or just look inside if the top is down, and you will find a sumptuous Red leather interior. The door panel is a work of art in red and chrome. It is smooth up top, has a perforated center outlined in chrome, then has a long comfortable armrest with the switches for the power windows as well as a crank for the vent window and remote control for the mirror. Go ahead, settle into those gorgeous power leather seats. Now that is Cadillac luxury at its finest! Breathable seating surfaces surrounded by smooth supporting bolsters all stitched up with old school craftsmanship. A two spoke steering wheel sits in front of a red dashboard with a black and chrome instrument panel. An industry first introduced on this car is the completely automatic heating and air conditioning system controlled by a dial thermostat. The white convertible roof is power operated and has a red boot to dress it out when it is folded down. Open the hood and you will find another first in this car. The first 429 cubic inch motor to power a Cadillac is nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. It was developed to provide more torque and power in the lower ranges which would be most useful in traffic and at normal driving speeds. There is a flat black air cleaner feeding air to a Carter AFB 4-barrel carburetor. Valve covers are embossed with Cadillac in script and signs of good regular maintenance include new air conditioning lines on the factory compressor that has been updated to R-134 along with a new alternator and new plugs, cap and wires. Also new was the 3-speed Turbo-Hydromatic transmission that sends the power to the rear wheels. There is a new exhaust system from end to end and new front shocks as well as sway bar bushings along with a nice set of 235/75R15 white wall tires which all add up to help this car drive like a Cadillac should. You will definitely be "of the town" in this beautiful Red DeVille convertible. No matter what town is that you are rolling through.
