1966 Cadillac DeVille Additional Info:

This excellent example of one of the most stunning pieces of Midcentury American automotive design, credited to the legendary Bill Mitchell, in many ways represents the apogee of Cadillac style. It has had only two caring owners in its entire history; its current custodian bought it in the San Francisco Bay area from the original family, and it has been well cared for throughout its fifty year life. The iconic styling features stacked vertical headlamps that allow for a wider egg crate grill at the front, vestigial tailfins and blade-like taillights. The long, almost uninterrupted linearity of the sides and restrained use of chrome bespeak an aesthetic confidence that coincides with Cadillac’s sales dominance and reputation for engineering excellence. The DeVille interior emphasized space, with horizontal elements dominating the design. The seats were re-upholstered on this example and the rest of the cockpit is in very nice condition. Everything works too, which is remarkable in many ways for its age. The body was repainted by its original owners and has aged nicely. Since this DeVille has spend its life garaged and not been exposed to salted winter roads, its undercarriage is in fine fettle. Its 429ci engine feels stronger than its half century of life, but will need freshening at some point; right now it starts cleanly and runs smoothly; the transmission slurs shifts as it should, and brakes and steering are as over-boosted as Don Draper could wish, which only ads to its charm. This Cadillac convertible make its lucky owner a great “driver,” which doesn’t need the kind of lavish care a concours car does, and independent sources show that DeVilles of this vintage and condition are appreciating in value. We are selling it on behalf of its owner, and have many more pictures and details available for the serious shopper. For more details please email or call Isaac Bouchard at Bespoke Autos.
