1966 Cadillac DeVille Coupe Additional Info:

Its rare and wonderful to find a car that was treated with special care its entire life. We can all imagine the pride of the original owner as he pulled away from the dealership in a car that he thought so highly of that it was his "baby" from day one. This 1966 Cadillac Coupe de Ville is just such a car. And having owned and driven it, I can fully understand what generated that sense of stewardship. We all love these cars today for their beauty and style and what they represent of a bygone era, but to have had the foresight to care so deeply for a vehicle when it was simply a new car is remarkable. Its just such a sentiment that creates a truly collectible gem.
This particular Cadillac Coupe de Ville comes with the original Owner's Manual, Warranty Booklet and the Protect-O-Plate. The Cadillac Owner Identification page shows the delivery date as 7/19/66 by Mell A Gooch Inc. of Utica, NY. Also included are maintenance records stretching back to July of 1966, showing a gradual progression of mileage that confirms thenear 44,120 appearing on the odometer to be true and correct. This is an excellent example of an unrestored Cadillac that has withstood the test of time and has remained in essentially the same exceptional condition for decades. The original owner sold his "baby" on in 1985 and it has been treated with similar care up to the present day.
This Cadillac runs and drives wonderfully, and with the recently fitted period-correct triple stripe whitewall tires from Diamond Back Classic Radials, it floats at highway speeds as if we were back in July of 1966. The power seats make it easy to get into the perfect driving position and the power windows allow for plenty of the warm summer breezes to make their way into the cabin. Other options include an AM/FM radio, power antenna, power trunk and twilight sentinel. The 429 cubic inch V8 starts readily and is quiet and smooth, just as Cadillac engineers intended. The Cadillac is ready to driven and enjoyed, and I can envision it being judged very favorably as well.

I've been into classic cars for almost 30 years now. I still own the 1969 Dodge Charger I purchased when I was sixteen, and the 1983 Trans Am I drove during grad school at the main campus of Penn State and then on to the University of Central Florida to earn a degree in literature still sits in my garage to this day. I spent a year at Oxford in the UK studying Shakespeare and Milton and even then I hunted old cars and got a thrill on the rare occasion that a big American cruiser would appear amidst the sea of tiny British econoboxes. Decades on I can still remember with remarkable vividness the sight of a 1976 Camaro fitted with oversized Kragars, sporting the bad paint and exaggerated rake of a high school bully's dream machine, parked in front of one of those venerated university buildings like an uninvited guest in a greasy t-shirt causing a stink and getting sideways glances at some formal affair. It brings a smile to my face even today. If the allure of a classic car is in your blood as it is in mine, you have these same indelible images swimming in your memory too, that keep us young and make life so much more fun.
And its a car like this Cadillac that continues to make this the most enjoyable hobby I can imagine. I've included a link to many more photos showing the incredible condition of the chrome, the dashboard and instrument cluster, and the beautiful desmond cloth upholstery. Please enjoy all these photos. I also recorded two videos that should help give you an even closer look into just how special this Coupe de Ville really is. But certainly, if you have additional questions, don't hesitate to send me your questions and I will do my best to answer them for you. I'd like to see her go to a good, appreciative home, so I'm open to offers and I'll take a trade if its something that appeals to me. Let me know what you have in mind.
