1956 Cadillac Fleetwood Limousine Additional Info:

1956 Cadillac Fleetwood series 60 special
The vehicle up for sale was originally envisioned as a wedding car, but it could potentially be used for just about any special occasion. It is a 1956 Cadillac body which has been stretched 60" and mounted to a custom built frame with all modern mechanical parts. I designed this car specifically to provide many years of reliable service using heavy duty parts that were designed to work together. The frame and floor were designed for durability, light weight and corrosion resistance. Extensive use of fiberglass and galvanized steel in the body are to reduce long term maintenance and increase the cars service life. This is not a collector car, show car, museum car or hot rod. This is an all weather work truck, built for the purpose of providing long term income to someone in the wedding service industry. When completed, it would be a perfect centerpiece for any wedding related business.
Features:
  • As is, this is a running, driving car that goes, stops and steers. The entire drivetrain, suspension, electrical system, dashboard and gauges were transferred from a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria police car. As such, it has all of the mechanical features of a modern automobile. Service and repair parts can be sourced from any auto parts store, and because it has a fully functional OBD II system, problems can be diagnosed and repaired by any Ford dealers service department.
  • The floor platform and frame were CAD designed and every piece has been documented. In the event that the car is damaged in an accident, these CAD drawings can be used to fabricate any pieces needed to perform the repair. (These drawings will be supplied to the buyer in PDF format.)
  • The car has 4 frame rails; 2 down the center, and 2 at the outer edge. They are of a welded ladder rail design for reduced weight and are epoxy coated for corrosion protection. 22ga galvanized steel was used to enclose the frame rails to provide additional protection from the elements.
  • Floors are of 18ga and 20ga galvanized steel, plug welded construction. Galvanized 18ga cross-members are spaced approximately 16" apart forming a very rigid grid in the center of the car. These are epoxy coated top and bottom.
  • The underside of the floors are further protected by ABS plastic splash shields, and the Crown Victoria front fender liners have been trimmed to fit.
  • Body stretch sections (both side and roof) are fabricated from 18ga galvanized steel. The sides are reinforced with 2 - 1 1/2"dia. DOM steel tubes for rigidity.
  • The hood, fenders, trunklid, and lower rear quarter panels are molded fiberglass. The molds for these parts (EXCEPT for the trunklid) come with the car. (The steel hood reinforcement has some rust damage and will need to be repaired, and a hood latch will need to be sourced.)
  • Drive shaft is a 2 piece unit utilizing the aluminum police car shaft for the rear segment. (The driveshaft HAS NOT been balanced.)
  • For safety, the gas tank was replaced with an 18 gallon polyethylene unit and it has been relocated to above the rear axle. The fuel filler has been relocated to the left side quarter panel.
  • Taillights have new reproduction lenses and are fitted with LED's.
  • Custom flat side glass is laminated solex green with DOT designations.
  • Roof glass is tempered solex green with a clear polyester inner film for shatter protection. The roof glass also has DOT designations.
  • Rear seats: seat backs are firm 4" while seat cushions are extra firm 6". Both rear seats have a varnished 3/4" plywood base and 1" square steel frame. Much of the original interior metal trim will be included with the car so that the 1950's style can be maintained.
  • A rear view camera with night vision is integrated into the high mounted brake light housing, for use as a the rear view mirror. (There is a second input in the monitor which could be used for a back-up camera. The second camera is NOT included and I do not have the exterior side view mirror.)
  • Glass and a window regulator for a center divider are included. The rear window seal is new. (The windshield is cracked and will have to be replaced. I have a new replacement seal which will come with the car.)
  • Double convoluted Firestone rear air springs have been installed for increased load capacity and vehicle leveling.
  • A Rear A/C and heating unit is included but not plumbed.

Please read both the vehicle description and condition description very carefully. I did my best to show and describe the car as accurately as possible, but because this is an unfinished vehicle I'm certain I missed some things. I will do my best to answer any questions you may have in a timely manner. For anyone seriously considering buying, I can make myself available during daylight hours so that you or an agent may view the car in person. I highly recommend this for anyone who is seriously interested so that they may make a fair assessment of the cars actual value and state of completion. If you are just curious, I respectfully ask that youdon't waste my time, as I would not waste yours.
To the winning bidder: A $500.00 non-refundable deposit is required via Paypal within 48 hours of the close of bidding. The remaining balance is to be by certified bank check only. No business or personal checks will be accepted. I will release the vehicle title as soon as payment is confirmed by my bank. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Please make certain that the shipper is aware of the size of the vehicle (24 feet nose to tail), and that the front and rear bumpers are not attached. Also, the molds for the body parts will need to be shipped so a suitably sized additional vehicle will likely be required. I will make myself available to the shipper as necessary.
Thank you for your interest. Anthony
