1970 Buick Riviera GS ( 1 of 3505 built ) Additional Info:

I am the 2nd owner and have owned it since 1998 . The original owner was in his nineties when he passed . He purchased it new at Robinson's Pontiac Buick in Guelp, Ontario, Canada . His son and I were both Police Officers and he advised that his father rarely drove it . He preferred to drive his old p.u. truck . The Riv. spent most of it's life in the garage ( thus the low mileage ) . I have the Ontario Used Vehicle Information Package to prove the history of ownership . This is a Canadian car located in Waterloo Ontario which is approximately 2 hrs form either Detroit or Buffalo .
The 70 Riviera was a one of year . It was the only year that Riviera had fender skirts ( full or short ) . This vehicle came with the full skirts . I preferred the short and I obtained a set of n.o.s. ones and I had them chromed ( would normally be body color ). It was the first year for the 455 c.i. engine but what an engine . It was rated at 370 h.p. ( the most horse power of any Buick engine ) and 510 ft. pds. of torque . It was the same as the stage 1 engine but was not designated as such on the 70 Riviera. The h.p. was under rated for insurance purposes.

Optional equipment : GS model ( 1 of 3505 made )which included the 3:42 posi - trac rear axle ratio and a ride and handling package : Buick floor mats and trunk mat with the Buick tri-shield emblem : side sweep spear : bucket seats ( power ) with center floor consul and floor shift : rare Canadian model rear window blower defroster with dash mounted high/low switch : rare three note trumpet horn ( underside hood mount ) : passenger door Buick tri-shield rear view mirror : rare trunk mounted walk around trouble light : under dash mounted Buick tissue dispenser : Uniroyal Royal Seal tires with white and gold side walls mounted on chrome road wheels with Riviera center caps ( including new spare - never been used ) : after market cruise control : sport steering wheel .

( you have to hear this baby - the guys at the speed shop that I deal with say it is the toughest street machine that they have heard - there is NOTHING like a big block ! )
- 2300 rpm stall converter
- K & N breather
- 4 core radiator
- 16 inch electric fan
- aftermarket tachometer and / oil / temp / amp / gauges

I have several large plastic totes full of n.o.s, o.e.m and used parts . I still have all the original parts and I have boxes of literature . All included .

The vehicle was repainted once to the original burnished saddle color due to fading from being uncovered in the original owners garage . I had the underside soda blasted and re coated( almost looks as good as the top ) . Absolutely no rust . It has been meticulously maintained by a local speed shop which I have dealt with for many years . I have put approximately 5000 miles on her and she has only been driven once in the rain in my 21 yrs of ownership .
