1971 Buick GS Additional Info:

Re-listing and final Ebay offering of my1971 Buick GS for sale to the highest bidder (as long as reserve is met). It is a totally matching numbers car equipped with a 350 c.i. engine and Turbo 350 transmission. Buick made it easy to verify the authenticity of the “numbers matching” claim as the VIN, ngine ID stamp, nd Transmission ID stamp share the same numbers. No further documentation or validation is necessary like other brands. In fact, ate codes and stamping on the Rally Wheels, ear end axle housing, arburetor, nd ram air breather indicate that the entire drive train of this car is factory original!

When I bought it two years ago, he paint scheme was a poor attempt to give it the appearance of a white GSX. The original interior vinyl, arpet, nd overhead liner were beyond saving. The body had all the usual rust issues found in cars of that era, ut showed no signs of collision damage, nd the frame was straight and solid. The engine was rebuilt by the previous owner at around 75,000 miles and now shows approximately 91,000 miles. It starts up immediately, oes not smoke, nd pulls like a locomotive.I drove the car home and immediately parked it in the garage and began the process of restoring and preserving what I knew was a real diamond in the rough. Here are the essential highlights of that restoration process;

- All STEEL body repair (no filler or fiberglass), ncluding new floor and trunk pans.
- Professionally repainted in original Cortez Gold paint.
- All new body hardware such as mirrors, oor handles, nd locks.
- Full interior restoration with OE style and color (sandalwood), ncluding seat foam and vinyl, arpet, verhead liner, un visors. Complete dash and gauge cluster refurbishment. Radio was missing so I opted not to replace it to give next owner a choice of entertainment system.
- Installed brand new OES windshield with integrated radio antenna.
-
Refurbished and detailed the engine compartment. At some point in its life the A/C system failed and it was removed to improve the car’s performance (common practice for muscle cars of the day). Again, elected not to replace it to give the next owner the choice.
- Original transmission overhauled and rebuilt.
- All new 2 ½” high performance exhaust system installed from manifold back.
- New heavy duty shock absorbers installed all around and new heavy duty, rogressive rate rear springs installed.
-
New radial tires installed all around. 235/60R15s front and 255/60R15s rear. Very aggressive looking stance.
-
Many more equally important repairs too numerous to list here, owever, omplete receipts and extensive photo documentation provided upon request.
- Where possible, riginal parts were repaired and retained. When not possible, EM or OES parts were used to replace them.

This is an authentic Buick GS and I made every effort to keep it as original as possible to preserve it as a piece of automotive history. It is not perfect, ut IT IS NOT A CLONE OR TRIBUTE! My reserve is ridiculously low for a classic of this caliber. Why buy a copy when you can get the REAL THING for about the same or less money??
