1980 BMW 6-Series Additional Info:

This is a very exciting ca, it is a 1980 BMW 635CSi Euro model. The top of the line 635 was not available in the US till 1986 this car, the Euro version was equipped with the legendary M90 Engine which has been described as a torque monster, the car produces 218 hp and 229lbft of torque, just driving this car gently you can feel it is very capable in every gear . The car is in superb condition having had only 2 owners since 1983. The importer was famous Jazz musician Charles Lloyd who fell in love with the car while touring in Germany he imported it and it has lived in California ever since . By 1990 Charles had fallen for an M6 and sold the car to a friend who had bugged him for years to sell it to him. That owner had the car till weacquired it recently sitting in a garage undriven due to head gasket issues. As part of a 14 car collection(mostly Porsches) it’s recusitation was very much on the back burner for him . After much negotiation(begging and pleading ) we acquired the car. We removed the cylinder head expecting the worst but were pleasantly surprised; the engine was mint, with perfect bores it had no issues whatsover. The cylinder head was carefully examined it was mint too, no cracks or evidence of pastdamage it just needed a new gasket . The head was properly rebuilt by our ace German mechanic Werner and the car now drives like a dream, we are still running it in but the great power is evident. The brakes are superb and the transmission shows no sign of wear. Of course the oil and coolant were flushed and renewed. The front tires are aging but we will will leave the tire choice to the next custodian.Even though the car has a California title it is titled in a non smog county, it does not have a catalytic converter so if a if you are from California please contact us before bidding unless you are a dealer. Also the car does not have AC it never had or cruise control. The rear exhaustbox is rusty but it sounds so fantastic it would be a shame to change it. Bodywise the car is superb no sign of rust or accident the paint is really nice except for the trunk lid where the spoiler was changed and it was repainted poorly also one rear wheel arch shows poor paint repair{not bodywork} . The car is superb underneath and the spare tire appears original, the car presents itself very well and needs no immediate cosmetics apart from the trunk lid. The interior is in a word, mint; the dash, door panels and seats are truly superb, the front seats are superb leather Recaros that the owner said he was offered $3000 for, apparently people really like them, they work just as they should and the leather is as supple and bright as it was in the 80’s. The windows and sunroof all work as they should. The car will be sold with no known mechanical faults . The steering wheel is a factory“M" item bought from the BMW dealer in the early 90s. We have a clear California title and copies of the EPA and DOT releases also the original owners handbook and a poor copy of the orignal German Brief. This car is actively for sale locally so please if you want it bid early and make us an offer. I just sold a Bentley and had two people crying in their beer because they missed it.This truly is a special car and is bound to be a great long term investment,Please feel free to ask any questionsan inspection is welcomed and encouraged and can be arrangedwe can arrange shipping anywhere in the world at competetive ratesall internet sales as is where isNot for sale in California except to a dealer This is not an M car please note this is not an M6
