1976 BMW 2002 Additional Info:

This is me selling a '76 BMW 2002 E10. The car I always wanted. I purchased it just a few months ago and I'm the second owner! It just happened that I have the opportunity to live and work in Europe. After the initial thought to put the car in storage I decided to sell it. Project cars come and go, nd so this one hopefully finds a new loving home.
Feel free to contact me for questions you may have.
The car has been kept in a garage for over ten years. It has the original window sticker, anual, nvoice, egistration and maintenance stamps. I haven't done much since I got it. The only things I did was to keep the car in good condition until I have time to work on it. I wiped things down with distilled water and green soap to check the surface for rust, ave the door gaskets a rub with jelly, reased the hinges, nd covered exposed metal parts with wax for protection. It has been parked under a cover (included).
I was told when I bought it that the motor runs but never tried it. It has oil and everything looks good, ut I didn't want to risk anything until I had time to take things apart, rop the tank, tc. So I'm selling the car as NOT RUNNING. Again: It has been sitting for over ten years, t will need some work!
This is a solid base for a restoration. Ipersonally like the faded California style and keep the original paint, ut a goodbody shop will be able to take care of the rust spots without doing a full respray.
I have tons of hires photos in my dropbox. Send me a message and I will mail you the link.
The car has a full inspection report from Car Saints that I ordered before I bought the car. That's a $300 service I paid to make sure the car is in good condition. This it at no cost click the link to read the full report: http://www.carsaints.com/inspection/557/1976-BMW-2002.html
On the good side:
Very little rust. Surface rust on the outside where the paint faded. A few spots next to the chrome trim, he bumper cover and next to the passenger side front signal. Trunk hinges look brown but solid.
No accident, o damage, traight body, riginal paint! I haven't found any signs of welding done to the body or chassis.
Car is mostly complete. Little things like sun visor clips and plastic cover for the seat adjustment are missing - probably crumbled away. Even the original spare wheel and onboard tools are still in the trunk
Plenty of documents and the original keys with BMW key fob included
Interioris good condition but worn. Dash has no cracks. Seats are not ripped. Headliner is in one piece. Door cards, sh trays, witches, tc. are there and in place.
Car has been taken care of. Has stickers and stamps showing inspections and oil change.
Wheels need some love but no cracks or curb rash.
Lights and reflectors are clear, ignals, eflectors, nd tails are a little dull but can be restored.
Chrome trim complete and in good condition
Steering wheel good
Vintage bungee cord and old rollerball pen I found inside the car included! (WHAT A DEAL!)
I will provide a fresh set of spare keys so you don't have to worry about breaking the worn out originals.
On the bad: True mileage unknown, dometer display "turns over" at 99,999
Engine needs some serious love. Since it has been sitting for so long you probably have to drop the tank, lean the fuel system, asic maintenance, luids, park plugs, iming belt, ilters, tc. and some other rubber parts that don't age very well. I'm not talking 'some TLC' here, his needs someone who really knows how the job.
Fusebox looks like an Arizona ghost town. Cover is intact and it's mainly dust. Some cleaning and a fresh set of copper fuses should fix that.
Needs clutch work. Pedal has no resistance at all. My guess would be the master cylinder
Needs new tires and probably brakes
Rocker panel on both sides are rusted. Hole is about 2 inches behind the front wheels. Nothing structural as far I can see.
Previous owner had a dog and half of it is still in the car. So a lot of dog hair tovacuum. Carpet has to come out anyway, o wash and scrub.
Rear seat fabric shows some odd signs ofdisintegration. My guess is that the dog had it's blanket and both fabrics didn't play well with each other.
Plastic piece under the pedals is worn and cracked.
Shifter look potato (but hey we want the wooden one anyway, ight?)
Window gaskets are cracked and need to be replaced. Same with the sealing lips around the doors and the trunk lid.
Sun visorsare saggy.
Tiny bits are missing: Window crank knob, iny plastic covers, MW emblem on one wheel, n so on. I collected some of it inside the car and the trunk. Not sure if that's all what's missing.
Driver side door can't be locked from the outside due to a broken key inside the tumbler. But keys are complete (Ignition/Trunk) and as I already mentioned: You'll get a set of freshly machined spare keys.
For California buyers: Back fees due for registration. DMV website says around $850. I talked to a guy at AAA and they say there is a way to lower it since it's the previous owner who failed to pay. I haven't followed that since - well - I'm selling the car. Shoot me a message and I will give you the license plate, o you can run the numbers by yourself.
Everything listed is best to my knowledge

I have attempted to describe this vehicle very fairly but it is the buyer’s responsibility to determine their opinion of the vehicle’s condition prior to submitting an offer. It is recommended possible buyers inspect the vehicle in person prior to bidding but details and pictures have been provided as I understand in person inspection is not always possible. If a professional pre-purchase inspection is wanted, t must be completed prior to committing to buying through putting in an offer. Winning bidder must deposit a non-refundable $500.00 down payment within 48 hours of auction close via Paypal. Remaining funds must be received no later than one weeks from auction end.
I really need to sell this car QUICK since I'm in the process of moving out. So you have to pick up the car within one week after the auction ends or arrange a storage!
