1979 BMW 7-Series Additional Info:

1979 BMW 728 Euro E23 series Imported into the USA from Germany. Excellent condition.

This car was made and only sold in Europe from 1977–1979. It is a 1979 BMW 728 Euro, E23 Series. Has a M30 - 6 cylinder engine with unique four-barrel Solex carburetor. The 728 EURO model was never sold in the USA and the comparable USA model was the 733i with fuel injection sold from 1979-80.

This car was purchased new in Germany by a gentleman stationed there in the US Army in 1980's. In 1984 he shipped the car from Germany to the USA when returning from his tour of duty. I have all that documentation on file.

This gentleman was an engineer in Huntsville, AL. He kept impeccable maintenance records and all receipts. The car was passed onto three engineer friends through the years when each one died. Over the years the car has been significantly restored and I have all of the repair and maintenance records. Car had additional restoration in 1998 and professionally appraised for $18500.

Have all receipts for the work done to the car over the years. To list just a few of the restored or replaced new parts: completely repainted at a cost of about $8000; many other new engine BMW parts; rims repainted; new entire upholstery replaced with original material from BMW; new Solex Four-Barrel carburetor.

In 2007 all new stainless brake lines and brakes all the way around. The independent rear axles and suspension rebuilt with new rear axle boots, bearings, emergency brake parts in rear wheels. New tires in 2022.

In addition, we have all the records for all the repairs done over the years by a Speciality BMW certified mechanic shop in Huntsville, AL. It had a genuine BMW tow hitch added in 2006.

I purchased this car in 2005 and it has always been used just for pleasure about 2-3 times a year. The car has been always been well maintained.

The car has full coverage Antique Car Insurance and has been licensed the entire time we owned it. I hold a clear Louisiana Title in my name ready to transfer to new owner. Car is always kept covered and stored indoors. The engine and transmission run excellent. Handles and rides even better especially at fast speeds and around turns. Fun to drive. Looks to have yellow and blue Bilstein shocks. The odometer reading is 276,287 kilometers or 171,000 miles.No oil or fluid leaks.

There are a few known deficiencies. There is a very small leak from the heater core when using the heater. A BMW mechanic said it was likely an O ring on the connector that goes bad. There are a some small cosmetic dings and scratches. The odometer stopped working about 2 years ago. There are some signs of small surface rust under the paint in a few areas and there is a small spot of surface rust around the corner of the rear window. All these signs of rust have remained the same since we have owned it from 2005.Sure there are some other minor things I forget to mention. The horn buttons and signal light are a little temperamental, etc.

Please realize this is not a new car but it is in very good condition for 44 years old. It really is one of a kind find here in the USA. Everything on the dash is written in German. it is classic well made luxury performance car. Will include two hard to find factory Service Manuals and other original owner/brochure type items.

The car performs well on the highway and still looks excellent. Anyone is welcome to come take a closer look and test drive this beautiful car.
