1982 BMW 3-Series Additional Info:

Euro grey market import never sold in the USA. Any version you will ever see had to be imported and federalized. This one in particular has a California DOT certification and California Air Resource Board (CARB) registration sticker. Very tough to achieve today when importing pre-OBD computer controlled cars. Date of importation shows 1982 when this vehicle was new as reflected by the original 1980's blue & yellow alpha numeric plate titled to this car. Has always been a CA vehicle. Last date of registration ended 2004 so it passed smog in 2002.
This is a project car that currently does not drive. It does run currently with starter fluid as the fuel pump is non-operational at this time.
Car was discovered in an enclosed dry Central Valleybarn 3 years ago by me. Before that, it sat for a decade or more not driven. You can see in the engine bay there is a thick coating of dust which I have not washed away. It is only dirt and the paint in there is the original color of Graphite Metallic. Engine bay and door jams are this color while the trunk was painted with a texture splatter. Trunk is solid without rust in the spare wheel well, around the tail lens, and around the upper lip seal. The most common areas to rot from collecting water if left outside. The rest of the body is straight with the typical door ding and surface scuffs, but NO rust. It was being prepped for paint-not by me, so the exterior is primer. The overall condition as seen in the photos.

Other than priming the engine in order to wake it from it's slumber, I have not driven or worked on other mechanicals. ALL systems will need to be gone through before road testing. There are a few items in boxes that are included to help this project along.
The pleasant surprisewas that after a decade of sitting it started immediately and did not smoke or make internal engine noises.
Tires are newer than the period of non-operation as I put them on. The wheels it came with were not original and had very old tires which did not hold air.
Feel free to communicate with questions or for additional photos. To see this car leave CA and to give up it's vintage registration status would be sad, but how many are there back east that have not gone the way of dust? That being said, I can assist with loading it onto your transport carrier.
