1987 BMW 3-Series Additional Info:

1987 325is for sale - I'm putting my most recent project up for sale so I can spend my time working on the next project. This is a 1987 325is that I bought with a blown motor. I built a '327i' motor with the bottom end from a 1988 super eta and the head from a 325i. Every gasket and seal on the engine and trans was replaced. The head went to the machine shop before installation. The engine and trans were both cleaned and painted. New starter, alternator, ps pump, belts hoses, rotor, cap. All AC system components were replaced with brand new. I converted it from auto to manual so all the clutch components are new, clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, slave and master cylinder, etc. I recently recovered the front seats with the houndstooth and black covers. The rest of the interior was removed, cleaned and dyed black. New H&R springs and Bilstein shocks in front and new Koni shocks in the rear. I put new bushings and end links on a used set of racing dynamics sway bars and installed those. The tires only have a couple thousand miles on them. Rear brakes are new and fronts are a good used set. I painted the diving board bumpers black and they are holding up ok but have some spidering going on in the paint. The wheels were also cleaned, sanded, primed and painted but they are also cracking and peeling a little bit. The body is original paint and the only rust I found anywhere on the car was a little under the battery but since it is original itt does have a few small dings/dents/scratches. Some of the pictures don't show it but all the chrome trim around the windows has been blacked out with plastidip. It has an analog clock in place of the obc and I just installed a new bluetooth radio. I also installed a 173 ecu. Lots of other things have been fixed. This is a great daily driver. The mileage on the odo is not correct. I had to swap different gauges in there to get them to work. The body had about 200k miles on it. The price is $7,000. If you're looking for the normal worn out E30's you see advertised for sale this car isn't for you. It could use a nice after market exhaust. The one that's on there is an older, oem style and there is an exhaust smell when driving sometimes. I jacked it up and don't see any leaks or holes on the bottom but if I was keeping it I would replace it but I haven't done it because I'm selling it and exhaust choice differs from person to person. Also, the gas gauge works but when it's on 1/2 then it's empty so either the gauge or the sending unit needs to be replaced, probably the sending unit but I just fill it up when it gets near 1/2. I've been daily driving it for about a year and it's a great driving car.
