1962 Austin Healey Mark l , BT7 Triple Carb, 3000... Her story begins...
" On June 18, 1962, at the tender age of 14, I had the excitement of riding with my brother, Herb, from my folks farmhouse in Geneva, Nebraska to Standard Motors in Lincoln. We were riding in his white 1959 Austin Healey 100-6. He was trading that in on a brand new Colorado red 1962 Austin Healey 3000. What a thrill riding with the top down along highway 6, back to Geneva. He drove the car as a Family car for many years until children came into his life. He, however, did use it to drive to work on a daily basis until he knocked 2nd gear out of it in 1973. Back then, it took him a couple of years to find the part, as the cars were out of production by then. He started to restore it and completely disassembled the car down to the frame. He had the frame dipped, then sand blasted it and put an epoxy primer on it. He got the rear end and front suspension done and then got busy with a new job, kids, etc.It remained in his garage in boxes until 2005, (30 years later) when he contacted me about buying it and keeping it in the family. I jumped at the chance, rented a truck and brought it back to Nebraska. He lives in Dallas, Texas and it 2005 he was 76 years old and figured he would never get it done.I got started on it in early 2006 and completed the biggest puzzle in my life in August of 2009. I have hundreds of pictures of the assembly, but here are only a few.
