1967 Austin Healey 3000 MKIII BJ8 PHASE 2 Additional Info:

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this exceptionally well-preserved, highly original factory Golden Beige BJ-8 that was last driven in 1974 and has been off the road since. This original black plate California car has been tucked away in a garage in California's Central Coast for the past 45 years and has only recently been uncovered and brought into daylight. Last year the car received a minor mechanical freshening (brakes, fuel, fluids, tire set, radiator clean) to make it roadworthy. The reluctant owner has decided to part with this hugely untouched specimen of an original motorcar, being 1 of only 553 in this fantastic factory color.

The car's paintwork is highly original and presents very nicely for factory metallic lacquer paint. There are the usual dings, nicks, and scrapes from normal use and 45 years of garage storage. The car's trunk lid appears to have been repainted at some point early on in its life after a small bump on the rear shroud, a minor repair. The rest of the car is 100% original factory paintwork. The car still retains its original chrome/brightwork, rubber, light lenses, Lucas headlight set, etc.

The car's interior tells the same story here. The carpets, panel kit, seats, dashboard top are all the original factory material in excellent condition. A small glue repair is required to attach the vinyl to the LH arm bar, an easy fix. Amazingly, the car's original black Everflex soft top is in wonderful condition, with only a rear plastic window replacement. The car is missing it's driver's side foot well carpet, but the original "Austin" rubber heel mat has been saved to install onto the new piece. The original dashboard wood is fantastic and nearly perfect, showing a rich darker tone with hardly any age. The car still retains the original BMC radio. The interior has a lovely original feel and look to it with very comfortable, soft seats still having the original factory "Dunlopillow" rubber foam. The correctAmbla trim has its imitation chrome piping. The steering wheel is in great condition. The door aluminum is great condition also.

The car's underside is original/unrestored and shows some normal use. The car was running and driving absolutely perfectly last year. The mechanic told us it's by far the best Healey he has ever driven. The brake/clutch reservoir has lost fluid into the original servo, which now needs rebuild/replacement. The car starts fine, revs smooth and hard, and sounds really fantastic. The engine bay is very clean and original, showing its West Coast plastic delivery tag.

Overall, this incredibly low mileage and original BJ-8 is a very rare find in this limited, late production color scheme. The car could use some light, final cosmetic "massaging" and fine detailing- all really enjoyable stuff for playing with the car on the weekends. This gem of a motorcar is in marvelous original condition for its 50 years of age. An unrepeatable opportunity to acquire a low mileage, superb original.
