Rare 1972 AMC Javelin SST, 304 V8, automatic, A/C
This car fell into my lap, so I bought it. I wasn't looking to buy a Javelin. It has a "cool" factor. I love Mustangs and Camaros, but they are everywhere. After towing it to my house, I got excited about the possibilities. Now I've had a Cobra kit car come into my life and something's got to give. A Cobra trumps a Javelin everyday. I'm also in negotiations for a "Bandit" Trans Am.(my favorite car)
Make no mistake, this will be a total restoration, inside and out. The motor was rebuilt by the previous owner. (If you are local, you will be able to speak to him) He is a member of the drag racing hall of fame. I'm guessing the 304 is a little more potent than stock. It has never been fired. The car was stripped to ready it for restoration. The two brothers never got it back together. It is a great candidate to hot rod. Google Mark Donahue edition. I like the red white and blue.
My wife and I cleaned the car and organized the parts as best we could. I've been
around cars for a long time and it appears all of the parts are here. The dash is not cracked and is in good shape, the door panels are also in good shape. All of the trim is accounted for and off of the car.
Issues:
Locks not working (I ordered a complete new set of locks- doors, ignition, trunk, console. $116.00)
Rust -
Both lower rear quarter panels have been patched. They seem solid.
Rust on both sides of rear window, will have to be repaired, easy fix (see glossary)
Rust on passenger lower rocker panel, will have to be repaired.
I got underneath and the frame, floor pans and trunk look ok.
Tires hold air and that's all that can be said for them.
Wheels are mismatched.
Unknown condition of transmission (now is a good time to have it looked at)
Interior is crunchy.
I'm putting the car oncraigslist also.I reserve the right to end this auction and sell the car locally.
Scammers and salespeople, I'm on to you and I don't need your help.
SHIPPING TO BE PAID FOR BY BUYER.
