1973 AMC Hornet X package Additional Info:

First year of the Hornet hatchback. factory V8 car, was 304 w/ 904 trans. 3,661 Hornets with the 304 were produced but no records on how many had the X package so likely a small survival rate.Was originally Pewter silver with white bucket seats and black carpet.Disc brake front, power steering.
Original Arkansas car, never in salt and never wrecked.owned for 14 years, previous owner since 1981.Very solid body, quarters, rockers, hatchback all dry and rust-free. front floor pans have steel repair in small area from damp carpet while in storage.

1972 401 engine built similar to Car Craft Magazines engine build "AMC Brute"runs on 91-93 octane pump gas.has 1970 291C dog-leg heads, speed pro forged pistons, 10.3 - 1 compression,balanced assembly. comp cams extreme energy 520/523 lift 230/236 dur. cam, chrome moly pushrods, scorpion roller rockers. Oiling system upgraded with Bulltear industries timing cover & adapter, canton oil pan, USA cam & dist. gear. milodon true roller timing set,pertronix II ignition.Holley 770 street avenger carb and air-gap intake.
powermaster mini starter, 727 trans built by northland transmission w/custom built 2,600 billet stall converter by buckeye precision and plate trans cooler.
12 bolt model 20 twin grip rear axle by Driveline Specialists has new clutches, 3.54 gears, moser one-piece axles and new seals.
all new weatherstripping throughout, new windshield, NOS fuel tank, front bumper filler panel, new door hinges, carpet, original seats redone, radiator, front suspension & steering, leaf springs, USA rotors, brake components w/ silicone brake fluid and more parts not listed.all gauges work with exception of temp gauge, disconnected and am using a vintage set of Stewart Warner gauges.
Purchase includes NOS fuel gauge, speedometer, headlight bezel, used RH door mirror (small crack)floor shifter assembly w/light, interior temp control/radio plastic bezel, showroom dealer brochure and amc factory performance handbook.
Car was painted 13 years ago with base/clear and is not a show car but driver quality, Hornet bee in hood is intact,has some small dings in LH door and behind door, scratch in paint on leading edge of RH front fender, inside of LH door jamb and some paint chips from driving.rear bumper has two dents on edge and panel between taillights has a small dent.roof has some bubbling and has been that way for 7 years.headliner is original and is aged but not sagging. dome light works.will need tire replacement soon.
It's a '73 Hornet X with the pinnacle of AMC V8 performance.Great driving car that has good manners and brutal torque & performance when needed.will try and answer any questions upon request. thank you.
