Iconic Italian Spider

The movie "The Graduate" is partially responsible for making the Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto an icon in the US. Take one look at this true Italian sports car and you can see the appeal. It has a very Italian look and stands out from the American muscle cars of the day. It does not lack power with its 1.6L dual overhead cam engine which is perfectly powered for the light weight Duetto. Balance is more important than just brute power for the Italians. Style, refinement, handling, and power must all work in harmony to bring the best driving experience. This car delivers on that. This vehicle is original and in very good condition. The engine fires right up and runs smoothly. The underside is clean and without signs of rust. With the excellent condition of the body and the readily available parts and support for Alfa Romeo's, this car would make a great restoration candidate or with a few minor things, could be a great original drivers car.

History of the Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto

The Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto debuted in 1966 at the 36th Geneva Motor Show. It was designed by the famed Pininfarina design studio. The Duetto was the last car that the legend, Battista Pininfarina worked on before his death a month after its launch. The Italian roadster was mechanically exotic when compared to other sports cars of its time. Equipped with an Aluminum dual cam engine, disk brakes and independent suspension the Spider was quite advanced. The "Duetto" name lasted half way thru the 1967 year and the Spider became the 1750 Veloce. The Series 1 lasted until 1969 and was updated in 1970 with the Series 2 Spider.
