1973 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce Additional Info:

!973 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce, SoCal Desert Project. Runs and drives, clean tittle, current registration. Solid underneath, original rockers, lots of early 105 / 115 detail.

Here is the nitty gritty: The PO had this car sittingfor years, the one repaint paint is at least ten years old, I've done nothing to the body, other than clean off some of the dirt. The rear bodyis not dented nor damaged, the "chrome" rear bumper, actually lightweight stainless isdistorted but can be straightened and polished like new (about $250 in SoCal) trunk latch release operating, solid spare tire pan. Right side bodyis dented between wheel arch and pass door.

Doors, rockers, arches, jack points, front and rear lower valances, floors, all solid original. Left front fender damage as pictured, have missing amber marker, nose/hood all straight except for damaged nose section that sat exposed to the elements, missing center heart grille. Good glass. Very good fit and gaps.

Engine starts, runs, holds goodidle, doesn't seem to overheat or smoke, the POreplaced head gasketdamaging theoriginal valve cover (leaks) hence the installed late model cover (no leaks). No SPICAinjection, has dual 40mm period Webers, has original two piece performance exhaust manifold. The four-wheel disc brakes work but need attention, the clutch is functioning. This is the hearty Alfa Romeo 2.0 liter DOHC hemi-head, all aluminum head and block with wet cast iron liners, seven quart finned aluminum sump, etc. 5 speed manual transmission, shifts well. Old battery holding charge.

Although the car runs and has current CA registration I would not drive it on the street as is. Exhaust ends at the center (rear) muffler, pieces to finish included.

Has original 14" steel wheels with original "sombrero" caps, the wheels will need blasting and repainting. tire are old, rears are oversize, no spare.

Interior is dilapidated/rough but lots of good detail, starting with the early style winder and door handles, seat knobs, dealer radio, etc. rear upholstery matting (needs restitched but all there) cloth top need new window, frame mechanism very clean, interiordoor skins are complete and could be transferred to new panels. Windows go up and down, door open and close. Original wood steering wheel. Good glass. Chrome bezel instruments, 140mph speedo, 8000rpm tach

Overall good bones, what you would expect from a desert car, not stored near the beach. Unfortunately I have no time, so this can be your baby, there'snothing like the satisfaction of restoring and driving yourown classic.
