1991 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce Additional Info:

1991 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce. Super clean, service records from new. Runs and drives as great as it looks! Original CA car. Documented low miles for a 1991 model year, at just over 90k. Accident and rust-free, original paint. Clean CarFax. Passed CA smog a couple of weeks ago with flying colors. Over $6,000 spent in the last nine months at the Alfa Performance Connection (APC) in Orange, CA, operated by Stewart Sandeman Jr. Before we bought her last year she was with a long time owner in the central California area who used the car on trips up and down the CA coast and always kept her garaged. As the car had not been driven much just before we acquired her, we decided to fully recommission her with no expense spared. Some of what APC did includes:

New leather upholstery

Variable Valve Timing repair

New head gasket and cam cover gaskets

New master brake cylinder, brake pads and fluid

A/C conversion to r134a, fully charged and blows cold

Fresh engine oil and filter

Fresh transmission fluid

New thermostat and coolant

New spark plugs and wires

New fuel injection hoses

Rear differential service

New pinion seals

Stereo with removable face plate

New tie rods

Wheel alignment

Front bumper, third brake light and side mirror repainted due to showing some rock chips and/or cracks

And other miscellaneous items attended to that are too numerous to list.

The Spider Veloce was the top of the line convertible Alfa Romeo produced in the 80’s and 90’s. They were equipped with leather interior, 15 inch aluminum wheels and a canvas top, and of course they were fully optioned with all the power accessories available. The original window sticker is also included. This car cost nearly $25,000 when new, which is now the equivalent of over $45,000.

This car is equipped with power windows, power side mirrors, power antenna, power brakes, power steering and even A/C, and it all functions like it should. The instruments all work perfectly, all the dash/interior lighting functions as intended. Even the small details including all the interior courtesy lights, the passenger side vanity mirror light, the extendable map light in the glove box as well as the trunk and engine bay lighting all work. The original clock on the center console works. The heater fan works. Her original steering wheel is in excellent condition and also utilizes an Air Bag. Everything in the interior, except for the handbrake, works like it should. The weather stripping is in great condition, and note the good weatherstripping around the vent windows which are notorious for wearing out and are time consuming/expensive to replace. Original black carpeting is in great condition other than some worn spots where the driver/passenger’s foot has repeatedly rubbed while getting in/out. On top of the carpets are custom fitted Alfa Romeo logo mats in excellent shape. There are keys for all locks on the glove box, trunk and fuel filler door, and all the locks work as intended. The black canvas top is in excellent shape and the rear window is clear, but do note in the photos a light horizontal scratch near the top of the plastic.

Her four-cylinder, two-liter, all-aluminum DOHC engine uses variable valve timing with Bosch Motronic fuel injection. This engine runs perfectly, is smooth as silk, delivering plenty of power for a very exhilarating ride. The engine is further augmented with a high-performance computer chip, and the original is also included with the car. This engine starts right up, idles perfectly and revs just like it should. Oil pressure is very strong. The general design and architecture of these four-cylinder Alfa engines with hemispherical combustion chambers were proven over time. By 1991 this engine had been refined and developed to its ultimate iteration of performance, smoothness, reliability, usable power, good MPG and emissions characteristics.

Is the engine on this car healthy? You bet. APC did a compression test and all four cylinders were near 180 psi, which is where they should be. It doesn’t leak a drop of oil, nor does the engine use oil.

This car accelerates briskly and her clutch works perfectly, allowing the five-speed transmission to shift confidently through all gears. There are no issues with the synchronizer gears. Her four-wheel power disc brakes function perfectly and bring the car to a stop with confidence. Her steering is effortless and precise, with no sloppiness, and she tracks straight and true. Her suspension soaks up bumps and offers a compliant yet sporty ride. There are no clunks or rattles or squeaks or groans from any deferred maintenance issues within the suspension.

Her silver paint work and body panels are original and in excellent condition other than a few mild signs of age commensurate with mild use. Do note the photos for details. The engine bay appears as original and sparkles. In the trunk you will find her original full sized 15-inch Veloce spare wheel/tire in the spare wheel well, along with an extra Veloce wheel/tire as a bonus. In their appropriate place the original Alfa Romeo tool kit and jack are mounted in the trunk as well. Original aluminum 15-inch Veloce wheels look sharp, and the 205/55R 15 inch tires are in excellent condition. The undercarriage looks super clean as well. Being a CA car, there are no concerns regarding corrosion, and the photos are a testament to this.

She also comes with an Alfa Romeo fitted black bra for the front end, as well as the original tan top (the English call it a “boot”) cover. Her original Alfa Romeo folder with documentation is included, which includes the Owner’s Manual, Service Manual and some early service records in her log book. Along with that there is a stack of subsequent service records. The records are mostly from Grove Motors in San Luis Obispo, Visalia Imports Service Center in Visalia, CA as well as APC in Orange, CA. A CA smog test was passed a couple of weeks ago and a clean CarFax is provided (see the photo link below for images of those documents).

There are about 200+ pictures to view, so every angle should be covered. Please view the videos too showing the car in action.

This Alfa can be driven immediately and with confidence. It is turn key, ready to be enjoyed. Do not allow this opportunity to pass by as Veloce’s this clean are very hard to come by. This is the S4 Series of the famous Alfa Romeo Spider, and it’s also a Veloce, which was their most expensive Spider model. Hagerty Classic car valuations list values at $31,000 for a 91 Veloce in #1 Concours condition, and $21,000 for a Condition #2 car (excellent condition). The reserve on this car is very reasonable and less than those values. Our family has owned countless Alfa’s over the years, and it’s time to pass this one on to its next appreciative owner.

If you have less than 5 feedback results, or too many negatives, we will need to speak on the phone or else your bid may be deleted and you may be blocked. Only after full payment has been received and cleared will the car be released. No games, con artists or flim-flam attempts will be tolerated.

Now is the time to make it happen, these cars are at the bottom of their depreciation curve and will not lose value if they are well maintained. This is an excellent example. Bid with confidence!
